I cant figure out why stone ground is good.  is there a better wheat?

i tried this cereal that must have contained the husk.  it came from surplus store...so I dont know what it is called.

somehow i put on a few pounds.    it could be that i cut down on veggies, eat more cereal, or choclate bars were on sale.  [a big one for 35 cents]

Its the carbs, they break down to simple sugars.

As to the stone ground wheat, it's basically marketing.  Whole wheat is whole wheat no matter how they ground it.

My understanding is that it has to say "whole" to be whole wheat.  It looks like there is stone ground (not whole grain) and also whole wheat stone ground. I just wish restaurant workers knew the difference between wheat bread and whole wheat bread.

If you have a health food store with a bakery in your area go in for some shopping and talk to the bakery workers.  You can also get some free samples before making your purchases.
