Lately I've had the opportunity to meet several of the regulars from the boards. I know this is going to sound kind of odd but...for those of you who have met some of the more frequent posters, did you get a sense that you were kind of meeting someone who is at least slightly famous? Yeah I know that sounds odd...but it's been like 'Oh wow, you're that person I've been reading for so long on CollarMe!'.

LOL Erin!  I met someone locally who apparently is a lurker, and when I said, "Hi, I'm Cali"... their eyes opened wide, lips formed an "O"... and they said, "you're HER, you're DEAR CALI".  I felt kinda famous.

LOL...I wonder if the people I've met do that too. My ears are a lot bigger in my avatar!!! (and I don't really have wings...although sometimes I wish I did)

I get blushy and tongue ties when I meet new people ... especially if I look up to them for some reason
There are people I have met at events ... and have known from online and just gaped at them.

last week I had a scene friend over for an evening of tea and cake (shocking yes that a Sadist and a masochist can spend an evening together and the kinkiest thing that happens is pouring the tea). At one point I was sat there thinking ... omg omg ... people worship this dude .. and beg him to demo in clubs ... and gush over him at events ... and he is sat on my sofa discussing the merits of Delia Smith's all in one method for sponge making.

I felt like getting him to autograph my cake tin

No, but that is probably because when I meet people it is because I have already had personal communication with them and the friendship is already formed.

Oh, good.  It just got moved.  I sent the reply via c-mail, erin, but I'll post it again here.  Now that the post is accepting replies.  I wrote it as follows:

LOL erin!  I know the feeling you're talking about.  It's happened to Me both ways around.

I will never forget being at an event about a year or so ago.  I was outside during the break between presentations.  All of a sudden, from behind Me, I hear a girl scream, "Oh my God!  It's Lady Pact!"  I can't tell you how nice that was.  She had recognized Me just from My picture, which was a pretty good feat, considering I had My back to her at the time.

From My perspective, I've had the good fortune to meet many of the people here from CM.  I can't really say I've ever been disappointed in any of the regular posters here.  All of them have always come across exactly as they portray themselves here.  I've never walked away after meeting any of them thinking My impression of them from here on the boards wasn't correct.  I'm not saying that to sound like I'm such a wonderful judge of character.  It's just that I've found that they have put themselves here, just as they really are.  (Maybe that's why I'm so gullible when the subject of "real" comes up.)

There are literally hundred of regular posters that I would love to meet.  (Check that MI clique thread to find quite a few of them.)  If I ever travel the world, I know there are folks that I would love to see in person.  I couldn't begin to name them all.

So, as to the infamous part.....  Yep, there's been a few.

The person who's mentored Me the most.  Hands down.   KinkMasterDave.  (He is a regular poster, even if most of those posts are through the "Upcoming Events" board.)

The person I was most intimidated to do a public scene with him anywhere near.  Absolutely.  That was Archer.

The person (people) that I've met from the furthest distance away.  MissKittyBlack and boijen.

The person who literally took something I wrote, and put it as her 'phone name' for her boy.  AtlantaMistress.

The person that I think is one of the very few who outdoes Me as a Sadist.  EvilGeoff.

I can't wait to meet so many more!

I've met a couple of people from CM - one of whom is even a regular poster to the forums (while I was living in Atlanta).  There are a few others whom I'd Like to meet and have coffee (or a couple of beers) with.  The vast majority though - nope, don't plan to, don't care to, and won't in the least feel like my life is "less" for having never been in the same room with 'em.

Oh Lordy erin - now I sound like an asshole coz I don't get all drooly.  I do... just not in a 'gosh they are almost famous' kinda way, but because of the person themselves - if that makes sense?

And with you, I would be just ecstatic to finally meet you -  and that is going to happen - I will make it happen!

sounds like a plan batman .... though its going to be a bit like being a teenager for me .. am staying with my parents .. so its going to be sneaking out the house with a change of clothes and some long winded excuse as to why I will be home late .. lol .. not done that in a few years!

although I am being threatened with bunnyhood for one of the demos ... so wear something I can hide under in an emergency!

Oooooo stoppit!  Now I feel like a total poop.    Of course I loved meeting you - and I was nervous to meet you and Sundowner - nerves are good!  It's more a 'what are their expectations of me' kinda thing.

But gosh, I don't know about meeting 'famous people' - I guess I just view everyone as equal and treat everyone the same, or at least the way I would want to be treated.  So my 'expectations' that my friends all rock anyway.

I didn't feel like I was meeting anyone famous, I was just really excited to meet in person and hang out with them.  Like the.dark., I had already formed friendships over the phone.  When I met Bita I felt all happy and gooey to be in her presence.  She had been such a source of support and friendship and I looked up to her.  Once we got together, we couldn't stop gabbing...laughing...and sharing. There's another bud I hung out with from here, for a couple of days, and it was much the same - endless talking, laughing, sharing, and caring.  Very, very cool.  I was to fly out to meet someone else not too long ago - I was totally excited about it - but I got the flu and cancelled the flight at the last minute, which was really a bummer, because I felt like once I hugged her I'd probably never let go.

There are some very cool people here who I would just love to meet and hang out with and learn from and share with.  It would be such a privilege to meet them!
