Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Discuss.

LadyPact -> RE: Nurses. (7/22/2008 1:23:53 PM)

Easy enough.  My sub is a nurse.

I happen to find many nurses in the lifestyle, on both sides of the kneel.

The great thing about having a sub in the medical field, they bring home the most interesting toys.

Was there a question involved, Popeye?

KatyLied -> RE: Nurses. (7/22/2008 1:27:35 PM)

I think Popeye has a nurse fetish.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Nurses. (7/22/2008 1:32:42 PM)

Every profession seems to have its own personality type.  I have worked with nurses, both male and female, and I don't think I've met one whom I did not think highly of.

But then I think Popeye's point was a little different than that. [;)]

I was just remembering the other day that when I was in the hospital as a kid, they offered back rubs. Do they still offer back rubs?

Mmmmmm.....

sirsholly -> RE: Nurses. (7/22/2008 2:01:58 PM)

i started out as one but changed fields. I am still licensed though.

one of the joys of under-staffing is the average nurse doesn't have the time ...but it is taught in nursing school (or it was...it has been awhile)

favesclava -> RE: Nurses. (7/22/2008 3:00:03 PM)

been a nurse for 4 years. will continue my education in this  field.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Nurses. (7/22/2008 3:42:30 PM)

Been a nurse for 20-something years - and we are overworked, underpaid, but not undervalued.

What exactly are we supposed to discuss, Popeye?

nursygirl -> RE: Nurses. (7/23/2008 1:32:14 AM)

20 years since I entered nursing school ......  I think the best part was the bedbaths.

Oh yeah ... there was this time we were studying for an anatomy exam.  One of the guys in our class was a bodybuilder and he stripped down to his shorts and let us paint him with edible body paint as we identified muscles.  hehe (we ALL aced that exam!)

scifi1133 -> RE: Nurses. (7/23/2008 2:04:41 AM)

In the immortal words of some weird little cartoon charactor.

Helloooooooooooooooo Nurse!

JulieorSarah -> RE: Nurses. (7/23/2008 2:19:57 AM)

um this has all sorts of thoughts racing in everyone's mind i'm sure but um ... my Mum was a nurse!

.... sorry

sunshinemiss -> RE: Nurses. (7/23/2008 4:54:14 AM)

Sorry Popeye,
not the thrill you were hoping for?

I was thinking of getting a nursing degree - I have a Master's in psych and think psych nursing would be an easy dovetail.  Anybody know if that's realistic?

there is just as much education required for psych nursing as there is for a Masters in psych (welll ok...a Masters takes more..but it is closer than you would think). My origional plan was to specialize in psych as an RN but i went for the Masters instead...it would have been silly not to do so.

LadyRainfire -> RE: Nurses. (7/23/2008 5:55:38 AM)

I think it's completely realistic if it's what you want to do, sunshine. I ran as an EMT for almost 6 years and the psych runs were my favourites though I was the only one who thought so. We'd get the calls and everyone would immediately call me, even if it wasn't my shift. You just never knew what you were getting. Since you already have your Master's, you wouldn't have to start from scratch, just pick up the specific nursing credits. You might already have some of them transferable/applicable, depending on the university.

In other words - GO FOR IT!! [:D]

your Masters will make a huge dent in the required credits...depending on where you go

[:(]  I know, makes me cry every time I think about the fact that I never finished my degree. I kept letting life interfere. It was stupid, immature and idiotic of me. Or even worse, my father offered to pay for me to go to Stanford when I got back from Australia but I wanted some time off to readjust to America. So he took back the offer. I should have just sucked it up and gone. I was such a fool! (And you don't have to agree, ass-holl, I already know!) [sm=tongue.gif]

You do know it is not too late, don't you?

agree!!!! it is never too late.

ETA...i am agreeing with our Angel...not that you were a fool. You had a judgement csll to make and you made it to the best of your ability. Retrospect may SEEM to be 20/20, but your decision made then led you to where you are now...

LadyRainfire -> RE: Nurses. (7/23/2008 6:15:14 AM)

[&o]  I know but now I have to wait for my immigration status to settle here in Canada and I don't know if my US credits will transfer, plus them being so old. (20+ years.) Funny thing is, I was studying nursing and economics though my declared major was dance. No, I didn't declare it, the college did. The majority of my classes were dance classes because I was getting in shape and staying in shape. In their twisted, bizarre eyes, that automatically made me a dance major, even though I was in the nursing program. [8|]
