Here I go dating myself again. I have smoked for a long time. After hopping around brands I settled on Winston. Well I have had financial ups and downs of course and years ago I had a Laredo machine. Later I went back to store boughtens. (the fines were paid LOL). Then the prices shot up as they tacked on more and more taxes, and no matter what financial shape I was in I went to Tops and the little machine. I still preferred the store boughtens, and smoked them while out. But at home I would roll my own. If you pack a Tops right it is pretty smooth. Now I know four people who have those supermatic machines and though I do buy some at the store, I have them made for me. The supermatic differs from the Laredo in that the tubes already have the filters. With the Laredo any cigarette could be filtered on not. With a Tops roller filters are not so easy but can be done. With the supermatic I think all they do is filtered. There is a company that will give you the supermatic for free if you start buying their tobacco and tubes. Then you can opt out and buy them locally if you want. I actually don't have one myself, but I get tobacco and tubes which comes to about ten bucks, and I have someone I pay ten bucks a carton to make the cigarettes. A carton does not last me quite a week. Taxes must be higher here because around here $35 a carton would be considered a good price. In fact alot of places aroung here literally give no break on the carton price, and actually ring up ten packs. Two packs a day meant nine dollars a day. I didn't have to mortgage the house, but I did the math. Over three grand a year. Round these parts, with the local economy among the worst, and the taxes among the highest, them is quittin words. So in doing this I cut that cost in what would be less than half, but is closer to half or a little more because I do run out and have to hit the store sometimes. But actually my favorite brand has been discontinued, so it's not so much the amount of money, it's the fact that I don't like the idea of paying a premium price unless I am getting what I want. So it boils down I am saving about $1,500 a year, and that is over a hundred bucks a month, so unless you are really rolling in money, it is significant. If you want, I can arrainge for you to get a supermatic for free. Just buy a few bags of tobacco off them. You can quit them but they actually do have quite good tobacco. But we got this offer where if you accept the deal we get a free bag of tobacco, or something. I do not know however, if that deal follows to you. If so you just offer up the names of smokers you know who might be interested. If they take the deal, you get perks. That's if that follows to you, I am not sure it does. If it does, ask first of course, but interested friends who smoke could get you some kind of perk. You mentioned Tops, there is one very distinct advantage to them. You can get the little pouches of tobacco, and they are sealed quite well. You actually get to use it all while it is still fresh. And you can actuall throw the papers in the pouch and it and the machine will fit nicely into a front pants pocket. Don't put the machine in your back pocket though, I can tellya that for sure. T
