For many, yes, it is. I wouldn't call it "corner training" in my case, but there have been times he has had me hang out in a corner just to regroup. Typically I will have to kneel with my face to the floor, facing the corner, for a set period of time, although it is a rare occurrence. The idea behind it is to remove me from all distractions - TV, Radio, what I need to do around the house, oh look at that picture on the shelf and I wonder how that person is doing...etc. - and meditate on him, on me, on us...you get the idea. No phone, no computer, no outside influences. Just the floor at my face. With an ADD brain like my own, this is a way for me not to get distracted by outside forces and to simply be still, quiet, breathe and think.
There was a time, however, he was working and he put me in a corner, kneeling with my arms tied behind my back, until he was done. It was really relaxing for me to feel "put away" until he was ready to use me again. Well, except for me giggling and asking if he can come scratch my nose.... [8D]
It works for some and not for others. Doing it with a purpose in mind makes it not a waste of time. Doing it with no agenda is...well...odd.
