I just think she was trying to be helpful, but is utterly clueless. I don't think she thought far enough ahead, or deeply enough to even realize that it is lying.
IMO people that so easily offer up the idea of disguising who they are, do it themselves to the point where they assume every one does it.
That it was a thoughtless automatic response from her, she sees in her mind someone who would be improved through deceit. Not thinking that it is not something that other people would automatically do.

This perhaps illustrates the difference between those to who this is just a fantasy game and those to who this is real life.  If you aren't going to meet someone in the real world, you can be anything you like.

i can empathize on this and go one step further.  i met an older gentleman that told me that i was wonderful as a submissive, i just needed to dye my hair bright red if i wanted to be collared to him.  now, i do admit to hiding the gray but i am not a substitute for a long lost love who just happened to have red hair.  i can't be compared to someone i am not.  i have dyed my hair bright red before, but for it to be a condition to collaring... no thank you.  i want someone to appreciate me for me.  sorry this happened to you but you aren't alone, here, let me row that boat for you.  *wink*

Asmodeus, I changed my age to 98 months ago.
I will never change it on here again,
I laugh at the 100 or so on here that list their age at 99,
we have our own club.

[:D]

sirsholly -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 12:59:20 PM)

what she said tells me that she does not deal in R/T. To her it is acceptable to lie on your profile because no one will ever really find out.

It is a good thing, there are plenty of hot men and women on
here that list their age at 99, I fucking love it.
If someone does not "desire" me or want me at 98, fuck em.
Now the next goal is living to the age I have on my profile![;)]

MizSexyVixen -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 1:16:04 PM)

Online fantasy wankers abound on this venue, of both sexes.

I often get asked "Are those really your pictures?" And I have to laff. It would be kinda hard to meet someone in person if it -wasn't- me.

OTKkindaGirl -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 1:35:32 PM)

MzMia,

oooh  oooooh.... i'm in that liars club too!  thanks for reminding me.  i actually  posted my reasons for doing so on the boards a couple of years ago.  i was going to post the link but i must have been off topic!  lol

edited to add.... after further investigation i found the link, i just don't know how to attach a link (Where is LA i'm sure she could help me??).  i responded to it on April, 27, 2006 - RE: Age and honesty.

pixidustpet -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 1:49:18 PM)

~~fast reply~~

a lot of women, especially, dont see coloring their hair as a lie.  i did it for a long time, then decided enough was enough, got as close to my natural color as possible and let it go.  over 9 months now, i have a nice silver streak going in the front and who cares?  Daddy and TheEngineer both like it.  [:)]

Daddy has a nearly white beard.  TheEngineer has salt & pepper hair.  i wouldnt ask either one of them to change.  i dont think that coloring one's hair is necessarily lying, but i can see that masking one's true age would be a lie.  and if someone has "married" in their profile, it gives me an additional bit of information about them.  i'd MUCH rather be told the truth.

i'll be married by the end of the year.  i dont see any reason to not disclose that.

MizSexyVixen -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 1:59:41 PM)

Realy now, there is a big difference between coloring your hair and lying about if you are married. To me. JMO as always.

I am a dark (I refuse to say "dirty") blonde. I highlight my hair b/c it helps with the gray. This is a superficial whim on my part that I can afford to deal with.

Being married, having a partner.....a person has to own up to that. Or take the consequences if they don't. Again JMO.

... As you note, it is a form of deception about who you are and while I understand and appreciate that women color their hair and do all the "beauty" things to help mother nature out a bit and to be more appealing to their men and their own image...and while I understand that a man should care about his appearance too, it is my opinion that many guys take it a bit too far.

You say you understand and appreciate it, but do you consider it a deception by women to color their hair?

If not, why would it be one for men?

To be honest, I started getting gray hairs at age 21 (on my wedding day, to be precise... should have taken that as a bad omen.  [:-])

If I did not color my hair now, I would be almost completely silver-haired.  I'm not ready to accept that look just yet.   It would look odd, too... Firm is three years older yet his jet black hair has no noticable gray in it.  [;)]

Edited to add:

As today is my 46th birthday, I find myself wondering just when I'll be ready to own up to my gray hair.  I've no idea how to go about letting it go gray without either a drastic, overnight change, or walking around for months looking like a skunk.

I'm thinking I just might go to my grave as a brunette.  [:)]

StrongSpirit -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 3:46:24 PM)

I don't think asking a sub to die her hair a specific color that you like is out of line.

But I do agree that advising someone to lie to get people like you is:

a. stupid.
b. shallow
c. rude
d. just plain STRANGE

Unless you are looking for an online-only relationship, I find honesty is the best policy.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 4:06:50 PM)

I'm 50 and almost completely silver- and i love my hair. I think it is beautiful, as does my Sir.   We look like Mr and Mrs Claus when we go out, because he is older than me and has a white beard and hair.

I used to colour my hair - messy, expensive if you do it in a salon, and always with the roots!
More trouble than it was worth - but if i coloured it i would probably look 10 years younger - not be younger, but look it. I would rather look the age i am....

As far as age goes - i go so far as to update my profile on my birthday.

I could have lied on my profile - but to what end!  To "trap" someone thinking i was something i am not?  I don't want to build a relationship built on falsehood right off the get-go.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 4:08:24 PM)

See I see it like this.

At some point the truth will come out. If it is later rather than sooner then you have put in a LOT of time for a possible chance that they will accept you for who you are and accept that the time you spent getting to ACTUALLY know one another was a crock of shit.

First Asmodeus, Yeah I know more women young and old who are looking for a Dominant who looks more like you then me. Age does have it's advantages, if you are not seeing this I am sorry but in the communities I have belonged to I found the Older Doms regardless of experinece were always popular. (Go to Vegas for this experince)

As for Lying, Not worth it. I got only so much time and so if I have to lie to get them to like me imagine how much work I'm gunna have to do to get them to stick around?

I recently accepted the fact that I am an extreme pervert because of the ease I have with making at times very vulgar comments to people I hardly know. I also found that because I am so easy with it it isn't taken in a threatening way........ well some people do but not everyone. The Truth is being yourself and being okay with yourself is half of the attraction between two people. I find I get women who most think are WAY out of my league (Ahem ... My wife) because I am so confident with who I am.

See.... I just KNOW I'm a sexy Bitch.

DesFIP -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 4:12:27 PM)

If coloring your hair makes you a liar, then most women I know would qualify.

I don't see them as telling you to lie per se, but giving you advice about how to market yourself better. Obviously your note asking about something in their profile came across as you seeking and they thought to be nice and offer some suggestions.

I could dye my somewhat gray hair (around the temples), get liposuction for the 160 lbs overweight i am, get a lift all over my body,
fix my teeth, get my eyes straightened, i need a tan, need money, need a mansion, eyes done, lip plumping, scars removed and varicose veins...
Hmmmmmmm.......I would be so fake and shallow....Think i will stay the way i am she says facetiously.. rolls her eyes.....Would all the above make
me more likeable or should i just be the same sweet person i am...Help me out here.....looks up... thinking.....
