I don't take issue with people who pitch insults on the internet. After all, it's the internet; what more can you expect ;)

No it isn't the Internet at all, it's people using the Internet, ergo it's people.

TreasureKY [sm=birthday.gif] Many Happy Returns and wishing you that all you wish for comes true throughout the coming year.

Actually, I don't agree with that at all. People will say things on the net that they would never say in person.

It just shows their lack of integrity. Fortunately not everyone is like that. There are honest ones out there some where.[:D]

Yeah right, we can all make those sort of excuses. I'm using the Internet here and it doesn't stop me from being honest and up front with other people. Just because it's online doesn't make any difference to the words you use to express yourself, they're still your words.

DarkSteven -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 7:51:04 PM)

I am so damn glad that because I am 6'6" of raw rippling muscle (I have three golds and a silver from the 2002 Olympics), have a PhD in Astrophysics, and own three countries (all right, they're SMALL countries), I have no reason to misstate anything in my profile.

And happy bday, Treasure.

Quivver -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 9:21:04 PM)

OMG you've got to be kidding Me!  Coloring My hair is a LIE?  geeez, i'm as to the point as you'll ever get!

TreasureKY -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/24/2008 9:23:41 PM)

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes! It's made for lovely reading while I wait at the airport for Firm. [:D]

Edit 'cause I read the post wrong....

It's all a matter of perspective as to what is and isn't a lie. To me, dying my hair a few shades redder than it's natural brown-ish red isn't a lie, it making something suit me. And, I'm not shy about admitting it. Perhpas that's what makes it not a lie? But, I don't hide that I'm 37 either.

What I found interesting about the banter, more than this topic, was the immediate assumption that you were interested in her for a relationship, right off the bat. I do realize that's what we're here for, but geeze. Maybe it's just that I don't have a lot of experience in the dating world or something. Is it common to assume anyone who talks to you is interested? I don't. But then, I realize I have a different history than most.

Master Fire, you are so wise.  I love you!

~ I'm reminded of the last time I visited my parents (in their 80s) and my mother (started coloring her hair 40+ years ago) said "I've been dying my hair for so many years that I don't even know what my natural color IS."  To which my father said without missing a beat... "Hate to break it to ya, honey but at your age your natural color is GREY."

naturalsin -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/25/2008 2:33:10 AM)

It's a shame people find it easy to forget their manners and respect on this site, unfortunately its easy to say mean things on a computer, fortunately for you though atleast you'll know not to message her again and waste your time on someone that isnt worth it!

As to your comment > So you believe that lying on your profile is valuable advice?  <
i would say 'no' heck whats the point? there's always gonna be someone ready to pull a profile for something said, not said or the way someone looks..quite pathetic!
Be Yourself & nobody can judge You!

Keep smiling![:D]

As today is my 46th birthday, I find myself wondering just when I'll be ready to own up to my gray hair.  I've no idea how to go about letting it go gray without either a drastic, overnight change, or walking around for months looking like a skunk.

I'm thinking I just might go to my grave as a brunette.  [:)]

happy birthday!!!!  [:D]

mztresn0w -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/25/2008 6:26:47 AM)

I just laugh when they tell me I should lie about my age and remove everything I have about my relationships from my profile and journal.  I also block them as I have no use for people that think it is okay to lie.

I think you are missing the point.

Masterand9k -> RE: Why encourage someone to lie? (7/25/2008 12:10:49 PM)

Most do miss the point, they make a judgement without getting to know the  person behind the profile. Then to make matters worse, they tell you what you should do LOL,,,Remember what Forest Gump said "Life is like a box of cho"  This should be all about ones mind set (you never know what you will get untill you open it up)

And that point would be? I thought the topic was personal integrity or honesty over the Internet, but I could be mistaken.
