Props for putting yourself out there.
Now... Not much of what you've written would matter to a real slave. But I recognize the problem you're trying to solve, and I appreciate your dilemma.
Communication, information, trust, need, desire... technology is imitating life more than people realize these days. An understanding of how computer security works... application security, network security, questions on whether to leave a port open, or install a shiny new mailserver, what languages it learns to speak, how much trust it has within a local network... I firmly believe this is the same problem that human sexuality tries to solve, just in a more primitive form.
What data do you trust? What your body tells you? What your friends and associates say you should desire? What you read in a book? It's alchemy that takes from all of these sources... and our limited consciousness can't wrap around it all, sometimes.
Your body wants you to have strong, healthy children. But what is health? What is true strength? It's not muscle, necessarily; it's not necessarily social strength; sometimes it's not even flexibility. Sometimes the most effective adaptation is no change at all. (not usually, though.)
On your outside, there are so many competing factors like girlfriends directly or indirectly competing with you, the needs of men competing with your needs (not always completely complimentary), the needs of the group competing with the needs of the individuals...
The combination of your ancestry, plus the free American society, economic needs, language, all of these things shape your thoughts.
The fact is that you do have to make a choice, based on limited information. The concepts of destiny and slavery are both crutches to make the choice easier; but that does not mean that those crutches are worthless, as long as you recognize them for what they are and use them intelligently.
