By the way, the diluted apple cide vinegar rinse is all about pH balance.  It restores the acid mantle to your hair and scalp, after you've washed it with shampoo that's too detergent (too high a pH).  White vinegar won't work for this purpose.  And the vinegar should be rinsed out thoroughly, so it shouldn't leave a scent.

If you find a product that's got a pH balance of 4.5-5.5, you probably won't need the apple cider vinegar rinse, though I don't suppose the rinse would hurt, either way.

This is so sad. I remember the dry shampoo and the commercial! it was called Psssssst and it had a sing songy commercial: spray and brush is all you do then go! Because Clairol brightens your hair instantly with Psssssst!

Daddysredhead:  I take Levothroid. I have, in the past, taken 2 other brands of thyroid hormone, including Synthroid. But I haven't found that any provided a boost.

For those who feel they are dating themselves by remembering Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific, do any of you recall the stuff that was a "dry" shampoo? You'd spray it through your hair, comb it and it was supposed to be a temporary fix if you couldn't shampoo or something to use inbetween shampoos. I don't remember the name of it, but I do remember using it. From what I recall, it was kind of gross! *L*

psssst! was one brand

eta... i should have read through all the posts before replying.  my bad.

you tell a friend who tells 2 friends who tells 2 friends and so and so on with heather locklear., lol.

all this talk is making me want to have mom give me an oil treatment.

OMG the money ladies sink into beauty  is astounding.   Haircuts for me $5 short- $8 long.  I sweat ALOT.  I change socks and shirts often.  Summer I wash 1 or 2times a day.  Hair is a baldy sour haircut. In the fall I let it grow longer- as in over the ear.  When the windchill is bad- and winter maybe 2 times a week But with gas forced air heat- all that grime gets into my hair. And I notice it. Summer I am out in the garden where I can taste the dirt.  [breathing haevy pulling weeds] so that gets in hair

I'm quite fond of the Matrix-Biolage line...the hydrating shampoo/conditioner combo is excellent for me.  My hair is pretty long and naturally curly...though sometimes I straighten it.  It tends to get dried out and the hydrating products work wonders.

So this fun little exchange isn't a complete hijack, whaddya say we wash each other's hair for after care?

(And I remember that "Gee your hair smells terrific" ad!  Anyone remember "Faberge Organics?")

Sounds wonderful.  I'll use the shampoo and conditioner of your choice and include a scalp massage.

I have very long hair, too.  For years, I was very pleased with L'anza products.  Among a variety of the best salon products, theirs were the best, in my experience, and according to many beauticians who saw products come and go.  Properly pH balanced, so they weren't too detergent but also didn't leave your hair weighed down.  Kept the hair moist, and had good products to strengthen and repair the shaft.  They left my hair in great shape and had pleasing scents, too.  In fact, one of their shampoos was recommended for body wash, as well as hair, and I was very pleased with using it that way, too.

They even developed a special line for long hair.

Then, about two years ago, they changed hands.  When Murad took them over, they monkeyed with the formulas, and raised the prices.  They were already salon prices!  And now they only list the pH balance on their new, most expensive products.  This makes me wonder if the pH balance has changed on the older, more affordable formulas.  And, they dropped the long hair line.
So, I'm very disappointed in L'anza.  I think now I'll only stay with them if I can find a discount bargain on their products.

Well, that sucks, MM. I loved the Lanza line, it's always a toss-up between Lanza and Sebastian for me on hair care items. I was a model for Lanza at a couple of hair shows which was a blast. My hair was done by the head (no pun intended!) guy on the main stage. He made it look so damned good but I could never get it to look like that again.

I'm glad you posted this - I'll keep an eye out now and see what I can find. I may be doing some experiementing.  *sighs*  I hate having difficult hair.

*L* Well I don't think you have to worry about Alzheimer's because you remembered the ad! I'm the one who should be worried. ;)

pagankinktress: Ooo, you make Biolage sound good. I wish their web site showed their ingredient list though. Still, I'm going to look into it.

I like Bath and Body works shampoo.  It makes my hair smell nice all day.

After a night at the bar (and a shower at 7 am that previous morning), the guy I was sleeping next to leaned over and told me my hair smelled good.  I will always use this shampoo...

pahunkboy, the way I look at it is this.... Men like the end results a lot better when women work their mojo (read that as WORK OUR ASSES OFF) to look good.Yet at the same time, laugh when they see or hear WHAT we do to get looking that good. As I tell them, "lissen buddy boy, take your pick. Get the end results you like and let me do my thing or put up with me as nature made me. Your choice." I don't get too much lip after that.....

True that, Lady Rainfire!  Most of the boys don't know what they're looking at.

When you look great, and when you look like you've been dragged on the back of car, guys don't analyze why that is (generally speaking).  They just see that you look sexy or tired or whatever.

I'm always very disappointed, when I see that I'm running a flat line, on the sex-o-meter.  Then, when I'm having a particularly good day, based on reactions, I want to figure out what I did right.

I'm touched when I see the beautiful boys, the beautiful, androgynous boys, especially the celebrities, practicing all the tricks to be beautiful that we do.  Emphasize the good traits, compensate for the weak ones, chase away the signs of aging or exhaustion or wear.  They have a special understanding, I think, of the female experience, of objectification and the importance of the Look, and the details required to maintain.

Whew

Wow, you modeled for them?  Cool!  Says great things about your look and your hair.

Yeah, I've wondered if L'anza's new management may step it back a bit, because I have to think their business is down.  Who's paying $16-$22 for 4 to 16 ounces of hair product?  I've contacted them twice, on their website, asking questions about their current products, and no one's minding their website.

Yes, if you find a great deal on their products, do tell!

Marc Anthony shampoo and conditioner for curly hair, and the spray too.  my hair is just *this* side of curly, so it helps encourage the curl and keep the frizz down.  I've tried others, they just don't work as well.  plus, it's at Rite-Aide.

This stuff was 50% off at Rite Aide so i tried it this morning. Holy cow....does it work!!!!
