I'm guilty of opening up the old thread.  I just had to add that Silvadine cream is apparently wonderful, but do not just give it to anyone who the dr does not give it to.  The Silver medicine in it is some form of, or related to Sulfa.  A burns bad enough.  A burn with an allergic reaction?  Good lord help you.  I was treated for a 2nd degree burn this year.  A skin medcine dr gave me Biafine.  It was amazing.  The urgent care only gave me orders to use icey cold wet cloths--within 2 minutes they were bone dry and HOT.  And pain meds and a toradol pain shot.  It was so bad I didn't even feel the needle , the pain was that bad.  There are other meds for burns, for allergic ones like me.  And, I am not one to say NEVER share meds.  I mean if I have the exact say, allergy med in the house someone needs and is out of, I will give one.  Only over 18, I would do that to.  I just never want to risk allergic reactions.

Lavender pure essential oil did wonders for a burn. I didnt blister because of it and it took the pain away. I was amazed.

I know this is too little too late, but for future reference----

I used to work as a chef. Burns are endemic. #1 thing---the SECOND you get a burn RUN to the faucet and run cold water over the burn as long as you can take it. Every second is precious, as the burn will CONTINUE otherwise.

Remember and do this, and you'll escape next time with a little redness that will quickly heal.
