ORIGINAL: raveonette I'm nearing the end of "Soon I Will Be Invincible" by Austin Grossman. Basically it's a take on the superhero theme, from the viewpoint of Doctor Impossible, a super villian, and Fatale- a woman that became half cyborg and joined a superhero team. It's done very dry with an eye to the human flaws of the super powered, and I've been enjoying it a lot. I was expecting more humor, but I still recommend it. I read that last month. If you enjoy it you might also want to check out Superpowers, by David J Schwartz. It's a similar poke at the superhero genre, though from a different angle (Five college kids wake up to discover they have superpowers, and the ramifications of such). Currently I'm switching back and forth between Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace, The Beach by Alex Garland, and The Politics of Friendship by Derrida. I keep being distracted by the fact The Times is giving away a free book every day at the moment, so I'm accumulating a bit of a pike to get through.
