i am a few chapters into
"The Black Hole War- My Battle with Stephen Hawking to Make the World Safe for Quantum Mechanics"
by Leonard Susskind from Stanford.

I think that is yellow-journalism, I think he mis-stated severely but did not fundamentally dismiss Newton's matter is neither created nor destroyed sorta thingie.

While he has indeed reversed himself regarding the availability of that matter, it seems that it is just a sqabble over timeline.

So far it's one of the best books i have read in a long time. i guess that officially makes me a nerd.

There are a couple of more great books on the Hawking's paradox, and Discovery or History channel did a great documentary on both sides of the issue. Enjoy the book...

Hawking's theory also states that black holes actually emit matter in the form of sub-atomic particles

wulfgarw- I LOVE the Dresden Files series, they're just a lot of fun.

Wow, two people went for the "forums" answer, I was wondering how long that would take! :P Clever people...

I got my first books fro mAmazon Prime so I'm reading those now, "The Good Theif" by Hannah Tinti which is kind of a Dickens-like adventure (it's aces so far), and "Evernight" by Claudia Gray which is apparently a YA paranomral novel.

I'm still trying to get through Love in the Time of Cholera. It's having to compete with the first 2 seasons of Dexter that I've borrowed from a friend.

I just finished Vampire The Masquerade Guide to the Camarilla. I'll be starting The Storyteller's companion, or Guide, which ever gets here first.

Might I recomend for anybody who hasn't read them, The Vampire books written by Anne Rice.

Please do. As Sirsholly said, you'll love it. I own it and have read it several times over. There's so much in it that just really hits home. It should be common sense but I'd never really thought much about intuition or needing to trust in my own so much until deBecker brought it on home for me in this book. One of my all time favorites for sure.

I just finished "Master of the Delta" by Thomas H. Cook. I am not a huge fiction fan but I loved this book. No skimming here! I highly recommend it. A delicious morsel for me. Here's a link:

I first read her highlander series which was mainly romance but with a fantasy twist. There is basically a mixing of time in them. The main female character is from modern times and the male is from the past, or has lived long enough to be in the present. But they always travel back in time and there is always an element of magic. The Fever series was touted as a non-romance. So I didn't think I would be interested. But I bought the first book, in paperback, for a visit back home. Oooo, so tasty! When I returned to Maui, I discovered the hardcover for the second book in the series was out, so I splurged and bought it. I devoured that one too! The protagonist of the series is rather annoying, but the whole story is very intriguing. It involves faeries, vampires, magic, ghoulish creatures, mystery and sexual tension. It's very yummy! There are 5 books slated for the series and the third hardcover comes out next month. I have to control myself and not buy it. I swear I go through something I imagine to be somewhat close to withdrawal when I got to the end of these books! I may have to wait until the whole series is done before I read the rest. And that will be years. *sighs* I am going to try to avoid any other series because they make me crazy!

Sitting on my bookshelf awaiting to be read next: The Third Jesus: The Christ We Cannot Ignore by Deepak Chopra.

On books, I am trying to make room in my tiny apartment.
I have stacked a heap of books to take to the second hand book shop all great condition.
How Many? 240
Once they are gone that will leave me with just my favourites and my very tiny pile of unreads.
(a delicious pile of unread books, one of life's true pleasures.)
