Status: offline 		Anyone else love zombies?
I've been mildly obsessed with them for a few years now..  I have almost every movie ending in '-of the Dead' (my favorite being a tie between Shaun of the Dead and the Dawn of the Dead remake).

So I have a few questions!
Do you think that you would survive a zombie apocalypse?
What would be your weapon of choice?
and, Whats your favorite zombie movie?

Status: offline 		heee! i love this thread. okay, my zombie experience is limited - have only seen dawn of the dead once. my weapon of choice would definitely be fire, though; that usually kills 'em off pretty quick. but i'd probably die in a zombie apocalypse...i'm a pansy.

Only thing worse than a zombie trying to eat your brains is a Flaming zombie trying to eat your brains!
They dont feel fire xD
its good for disposing of bodies tho..

ok now I'm sounding like a dork x__x

I'd prolly die too tho.. I know all the tricks, but I dont have the physical strength or stamina to put them to good use T___T

what DOES kill them? i suppose a knife would help, as long as they weren't limb-regenerating zombies.

Knives usually arent very good.. you have to get too close to use them, which increases the risk of being bitten! D=

2) Considering zombies would involve a fair amount of suspension of disbelief, I believe my weapons should also involve that same suspension of disbelief. My first act of business would be attempting to determine the origin of said zombies, and the characteristics of said zombies. So I guess I would have to say my weapon would be knowledge. Like for instance, black magic zombies would involve significantly different choices with regards to an arsenal than virally created zombies. Slow or fast zombies is another major consideration.
Other things to note:
Slow zombies?
Hahahaha where's the nearest military stockpile, this is going to be fun!
Fast zombies?
Get the fuck out of Dodge.

Black Magic Zombies?
Klatuu Barada......Nmrffhhrrff*cough cough*

Chemically Created zombies?
We need a counteragent! Where's the nearest lab!

Virally created zombies (ala 28 days later)
This is going to suck, I'm going to hole up with these here military guys and pretend to work on a cure. Worst comes to worst, I have walking meatshields. Best case scenario, I find a cure.

Now as for a personal arsenal of weapons you could choose. For in close I'd want one of those new knives they have, the one's that pump something full of like nitrous or something and leave a 4 foot hole the size of a basketball, but in sword form, because they're zombies, you need the reach. Secondly I'd want many many many large vats of very strong acid. Now at this point I'm tempted to say shotgun. However looking at it semi-realistically, if zombies are close enough in either case...I'm already probably fucked if there are more than 2. This is why I choose a bazooka, or rocket launcher. With many many many replacement shells. I figure it would do enough damage long range to take a few out before they got within eating me distance. Also the best weapon ever in any sort of zombie apocalypse is sane allies. Allies who were driven crazy by the zombie apocalypse will just get you all killed. Gods I've put far too much thought into this already.

But yeah, fire is a pretty bad weapon. Granted you could destroy their central nervous system, providing of course they need it (doubt magic zombies would), but it would be slow going, and if they're fast zombies...well you get the picture. Also some form of enclosed combat armor would be great. Like the HEV suit from halflife, but stronger, and more resistant to bites and such. Like the project grizzly halo suit, man that would rock. Also if we're going that far, solar charged laser disintegration cannon with a fortified battery pack for night use.

3) That's a toughie. I mean straight up I'd have to say army of darkness. The deadites kind of count.

Status: offline 		I'm a Romero purist, really... Aside from Shaun, I really haven't seen that many really good zombie flicks... (the problem is, the market is glutted with poorly done, ultra low budget zombie flicks.) My all time favorite? The Original Dawn of the Dead.

Would I survive? I think so... I do have a copy of the manual at the ready...

Now, if you want something REALLY cool, find copies of the Skip and Spector "Book of the Dead" and "Book of the Dead II: Still Dead" anthologies. They are all stories by current authors that are based in the Romero universe.

Oh, and you might also pop on over to the YardDogPress.com site, and check out the three books in the "Bubbas of the Apocolypse" trilogy... (yuppies of the world become zombies, and only rednecks who have been eating cheap BBQ sauce all their lives are immune.) Yeah, they are definitely tounge in cheek.

I have been approached by robots and zombies!
 
This is what a typical submissive "robot/zombie" says...

Yet another reason why the statement "You can have my guns, when you pry them out of my cold dead hands" is a favorite. 

To answer at least one of your questions... I would survive until the ammo ran out... after that I am not sure I would want to.

Now they would be the tricky ones. They would seem to have a bit more of their brains intact, so would be harder to hide from.   And yes, i would want a big gun with limitless bullets, and claymore mines - oh yes, big boom!

Of course i would be living somewhere like Cheyenne Mountain, so i could close the blast doors and be sealed away from the baddies.  And live comfortably until they all starve for want of living brains. And gate out to other worlds when i need fresh provisions.

Since human zombies eat human brains, do dog zombies eat dog brains, and cow zombies eat cow brains?  just something to wonder about.

Has anyone ever considered zombie poop?  Does it have a life of its own?  Could the world be overwhelmed with mounds of zombie excretion?  am i ever going to be able to sleep again? will pop tarts ever pop?  does jiffy pop really pop - and can i stop asking daft questions?

They eat human flesh, no, and not til you kill them =p

I base all my zombies off of Max Brook's books.. its kind of similar to Romero's universe.
Romero is a firm believer that zombies cannot run. XD

This one strongly suggests the use of a knife or a pair of garden sheers to defend yourself; however, it does say that a pair of garden gloves or a leaf would not be helpful....

Status: offline 		My Master has numerous guns around His house.  When He and I first started seeing each other, I opened the pantry in the kitchen and there was a gun sitting right next to the peanut butter, and one in the drawer with the big utensils.  I made His PB&J and asked about the guns and His response was......... Zombies.  Alrighty then! 

He says I'll be very happy He has all of these guns when the zombie apocalypse happens.  (we need a zombie smiley)

Anyone see Zombie Strippers yet?  Looks like a good one!

I am a sworn zombie slayer, so while I might be mildly obsessed with them, that obsession has nothing to do with warm feelings towards the monsters. I would be ready for a zombie attack, though Alpha and I are not in an ideal location if one did happen.

Zombies don't eat for fuel and therefore can't digest. The pieces of flesh they do eat sit in their digestive tract until they explode. they only eat to infect others, if you ascribe to the teachings of Max Brooks (Zombie Survival guide)
