I LOVE zombies -- I get my fix from looking at profiles on the other side.

Do you think that you would survive a zombie apocalypse?
What would be your weapon of choice?
and, Whats your favorite zombie movie?

my first thread, take it easy on me ><

Fast reply:
My first sci-fi horror flick seen as a kid was Charlton Heston's The Omega Man (A zombie Apocalypse). It is probably not something I would like today, but as a kid it skeered the begeevus out of me.  I've  noticed many similarities to this movie with I am Legend.  Edited to add:  Okay duh me! I just looked up the Omega Man and it is an adaption of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend".

Not a apocalypse movie, but a Zombie movie all the same:  Did anybody see the campy The People Under the Stairs?  Now that is a bizarre zombie (maybe just bad) movie.

Zombies would only be of use to me as outside beasts of burden. That rotting corpse smell and all is just too stinky.  They could work in the fields and mines and have an old barn to sleep in during the day, since they seem to be most productive at night.

Knives usually arent very good.. you have to get too close to use them, which increases the risk of being bitten! D=

Yet another reason why the statement "You can have my guns, when you pry them out of my cold dead hands" is a favorite.

To answer at least one of your questions... I would survive until the ammo ran out... after that I am not sure I would want to.

Hummm.. that's right. Chuck Heston said that. Back when he was President of the NRA, and doing a huge gun nut rally a week after the Columbine shootings... (just up the road from the still smouldering cafeteria, in fact) A proud moment for me, as a lifetime NRA member, I can tell ya!

Well, he died a couple months ago... his hands should be pretty cold by now....

So I have a few questions!
Do you think that you would survive a zombie apocalypse?
What would be your weapon of choice?

Then you may be interested in this forum.  http://zombiehunters.org/index.php

But as for myself, as woefully unprepared for the zombifestation, I think I could survive it.  The answer to weapon choice is not as simple.  It would depend on what kind of zombies (shamblers -v- sprinters), number of zombies, fall back fortifications, my combat staff status, looters/raiders, terrain, weather, if they've noticed me or my forces, and available resources.

But in the archtypical "Dawn of the Dead" or "28 Days Later" scenarios, my primary weapon would be my curved sword.  http://www.starfireswords.com/products/steel/scim.php   My firearms would see limited, but definite use as there will be limited ammunition supplies, a limitation that I am trying to expand as I am financially able. My everyday carry sidearm (Sig P226 .357SIG) would be with me as well as my shotgun (Rem 870 XCS) and for longer range engagements  that I could not find a way out of I would employ my S&W M&P-15 (5.56 NATO) and my Springfield M1A (7.62 NATO).  But my Grandad's Winchester model 67 (.22LR single shot) would be indispensible as ammo is widely available.  Same for fuel and vehicles.  I would want a couple healthy horses instead of a SUV.

I've given it a little thought.

ZOMBERS!

I love them.

I think my current favorite zombie movie (they change often!) is Return of the Living Dead: Rave to the Grave. Seriously. It's terrible, and awesome. And I gleaned a pseudonym from it, that makes me deeply wish I were a drag queen (instead, I gave it to another drag queen :) ): Pussy Discoteque. Hell. Yes.

Or try the truly terrifying experience of late night/early morning shopping at a 24 hour supermarket while the shelves are being stocked and the rare, wandering customers careen through the displays and crash their carts into the canned goods!

I saw a woman in a haunted house in orange jumpsuit, handcuffs, waistchain and legirons done up as a zombie.  She kicked open the door to a wrecked  'cop car' and started going after the group chains jangling...   Was that you?
