hm...that is an interesting event that happened.  who were they to judge and say that they must pray for people who enjoy these things?

personally, i don't say anything unless someone asks, then i never lie, however, i might ease the truth.  luckily, i never really have anybody ask.  well, unless i'm clad in total fetish wear but again, i was never in a position where vanilla people would just come and ask questions.  they probably thought i was cosplaying for anime convention anyway, LOL!

Eric Stanton remarked last night at Subversion that the smoking ban in the UK was forcing BDSMers to interact with the vanilla world, everyone who wanted to smoke/carry on their conversation with someone who was smoking was standing outside the club opposite the crowd of people waiting for kebabs.  This included (the clubbers now) people dressed all in rubber etc.

No one batted an eyelid.

Ah, you should have asked if you could pray with them. The look on their faces would have been priceless . And if for some reason they had agreed....you could have asked the Lord to let you have even more fun than you expected to have at the event. Hmmmm, maybe it's just me but I get such a kick out of toying with the high-brow religious types. LMAO

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but wouldn't this turn you into... well.. them?  You'd go right ahead and mock their beliefs, mess with their events, and in general play games with them just for kicks?  That sounds to me like it is either exactly what the vanillas did or worse than what they did (depending on interpretation of their actions -- was it with malice aforehand, or a genuine desire to pray for the kinksters).

I would be doing it on a whim. Now don't get me wrong....I wouldnt go out of my way to find someone who is highly religious or seek out their event in order to poke fun at their beliefs or anything of that sort. Far from it. But if I were in the situation that the OP was in, that would just be my general sarcastic, smartass response. I'm not exactly fond of the high-brow religious types who arent open-minded, so I have a bit of fun with them every now and then. Nothing with ill-intent of course.

I allways ask are you sure you want to know? even then I do not just blurt it out, as said here I ease into it, notice the reaction as I go , most of the time, you can tell by the look on their face as to when they want you to stop .For the most part you get a  "curious" reaction or a " you freak!"

I wouldn't have said "do you really want to know?" because it heightends the taboo and scandal of it..  I would have been totally casual, as if I were going to a baseball game or to Trader Joes:  "Oh it's a BDSM meeting-- it's going to be a lot of fun."  And then direct her to Google with the safesearch option on, hehe.

Anyhow, it is weird though-- I feel like I could never let my family know that I'm into this way of life.  Even today, I talked about it with one of my closest friends (who is a "liberal" sex fanatic and a pretty dominant figure in bed) and he got SO weirded out by it.  It kind of threw me.  I understand my grandma freaking out, but my best friend??  Mention BDSM and people have all sorts of odd reactions, like with water chestnuts or small dogs.
