Look, lots of people have lots of different opinions, and Yes Bill sure as hell showed his ass during his wife's campaign.

But during Bill's 8 years in office, the Economy was great and he did what no other president ever did, get us out of debit.

So what if he lied about screwing some low level intern? Has George managed to do any better??

ask your self this, are you better off today than you were 9 years ago???

Damn.  I was hoping for a "celebrity death-match" link.

Not to mention, Bill could not only speak in complete sentances, but often in full paragraphs. He was someone who could stand next to people like Tony Blair, and look charming and Presidential... unlike "W", who looked like the povincial Texas hick he pretends to be.

Sure, there's more to being President than that... but it IS one of Bill's better points.

George don't strike me as the kinda guy that would savor a pussy soaked cigar.

This Bill Clinton?

We haven't had a Presidential president (once they opened their mouths) in a looooong time.  For which I'm sure countless stand up comedians and impressionists and their agents are quite grateful.

George will probably be shielded from any sort of court.

Which is why Bush has invoked Executive Privilege to prevent any of his aides from testifying under oath.  Except for Libby, and we all know how that turned out.

I'm far better off today than I was in 1999.  Sorry if that doesn't fit the template you were planning on.

Comparing these two isn't so straightforward.  How much time and effort did Bush have to spend dealing with the fallout of Clinton's North Korea fuck-up?  How much of the economic turmoil today, grew from the globalization policies enacted by the previous administration?  History will have to handle this analysis, with lots more time to give us perspective.

FR:

I'm better off.  So is Treasure.

I think that the issues of comparison aren't so straight forward, however.

Clinton came to office in a relatively quiet time in human history, especially with the end of the cold war, and the re-alignment of much of the world.

It was - historically - a calm period, in which much could have been done to cement gains for liberal policies, and an opportunity to make some basic changes in how the world works.

Clinton basically pissed that opportunity away.

Bush inherited a much different world economically, politically and culturally.

In other words ... the US coasted under Clinton.  He pissed away a moment in time that can never be recovered.

Bush has had to fight and overcome all the lost opportunities.  His terms have been filled with challenges and issues that mostly came about due to Clinton's neglect and poor leadership.

I am better off today than I was nine years ago.

I will never forget the image of that lecherous shitbag wagging his finger at the camera while he lied through his teeth.

The hypocrisy on this subject is reaching untold heights. Everybody lies about sex. Virtually everyone here lies about their sex lives to someone in their lives.

GWB lied about reasons for going to war. 4000+ of my brothers in arms are dead due to the lies the POTUS told. I'll take a president who lies about his sex life over one who lies about reasons to go to war any day of the week.

As to am I better off than I was 9 years ago? Not by a long shot. In 1999, except for the last quarter when the Y2K push was really on, I worked 3 or 4 days a week, took home 80K/year, all my computer equipment at home was paid for by my company and we could as a company be very picky about what jobs we took and which clients we did repeat business with. Now I work 5 or 6 days a week, 2 or 3 days at home, make 85K/year which certainly doesn't feel like the same buying power as it did 9 years ago, have not had a raise in 2 years, all my home computer hardware is now bought by me and we take all the work we can find and never tell a client that we've decided to not continue the relationship.

Hmmm....let me see.  Under Clinton the economy was pretty good.  I could afford to fill up the tank on my pickup.  I didn't have to decide whether to put food on the table or buy medicine for the month.  We had at least a few other countries in the world that we could still call friends.  In construction there was no problem finding the next job after the one you were on was finished.  Did he dally with the hired help?  Yes.  Who did that hurt?  Not me.  Not anyone that I know of.  Not even the ladies that he might have dallied with. I don't think it even hurt Mrs. Clinton all that much.

Now...good ol' G. Dub....He has raped the US economy.  The only people that can afford to fill the tank on their vehicle are the ones that own the oil wells (I wonder where G. Dub fits into THAT picture?)  Grocery prices are shooting up.  Medical costs are shooting up.  Merry Ol' England is about the only friend the US has left.  And he has raped the entire country of Iraq...not just dallied with a couple of interns.

I am definitely not better off now than nine years ago.  I wish that the few people that SAY they are better of would list in what ways they are better off.  More income?  Less bills?  Better health?  What?
