backseatbebe -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (1/9/2008 5:45:28 PM)

im sure some of these movies have been mentioned but here are some reviewe from my journal on here
if you like my movie taste please send me some new movie suggestions :)

Kissed (1996) – this touching, bold movie isn’t about first kisses and spin the bottle, so be prepared because this morbid romance will seduce you with the beauty of necrophilia. the movie is far from creepy but yet doesn’t shy away from the topic at all. on a side note this is a Canadian film.

The Night Porter (1974) – 13 years after wwII a chance encounter happens between a past female prisoner/lover and a current fugitive war criminal (a night porter at a hotel). they are both drawn back into their sadomasochist games, though their love cant help them from demons of the past. this is a classical film (black&white, music score, etc) so defiantly not a mainstream trend.

Moonlight Whispers (Gekkô no sasayaki) (1999) – two young japanese teenagers explore the limits of submission when the girl finds out her male friend has a crush on her. he is caught stealing her socks to smell so she decides he is to be her new dog, each day raising the bar of humiliation. for punishment she forces him to watch her have sex with a fellow classmate, while he hides obediently in the closet. the game continues until her extreme demands lead everyone to a surprise ending.

Crash (1996) – let your imagination steer you towards images of twisted metal, broken glass, blood and sex where victims of car crashes are your obsession. turned on by scars and accidents these fetishists go much further than just the back seat. together they reenact old accidents or find fresh new ones to rev their engines.

Quills (2000) - erotica at its best, Marquis de Sade made history when he expressed his perversions. how many of us can say that?!this movie reminded me why communication is so seducing. Kinky Boots (2005) - just like a drag queen this movie packs a punch. not too tacky but still semi musical this movie brings two very different business partners together. dont you hate when men look better in womens clothing than we do?!

The Story of O (1975) – poor o must give herself to a new owner to pay for her boyfriends debt. we watch as o is taken to a slave boot camp and is prepped by other scantily clad female slaves (where do I sign up?!!?). it is a good representation of the lifestyle (whippings, speech/eye restrictions, d/s, cuffs/chains, nudism, sub sisters, etc) and was sexual enough to be porn-ish. the movie was actually banned in many countries.

The Notorious Bettie Page (2005) – i think most of my fetishes revolve around betty page; corsets, stockings/fishnets, and bondage. her life portrayed in this movie shows her as confident and religious (?!) young lady who was very comfortable with her body. truthfully i don’t think theres a more stunning looking woman in the world.

Secretary – If your girlfriend doesn’t want to be a submissive after this movie something is wrong with her. This every submissive’s Pretty Woman movie. And Maggie Gyllenhaal is magnificent in this vanilla meets perversion love story.

Black Snake Moan –This movie actually provides entertainment when a good man helps a white trash nymphomaniac, by chaining her to radiator. We all know it takes more than chains to hold down the fire inside a slut and Christina Ricci plays that character well. Not to mention her lovely hourglass figure looks good covered in chains.

Feed – Twisted, demented and defiantly not for the faint of heart. This movie follows the mind struggle between a feeder and his prey. The submissive goes beyond any limits by giving complete control to her feeder, while in turn he abuses that trust by turning her life into a game of russian roulette.

Pulp Fiction – the GIMP, need I say more.

Memories of a Geisha – The beauty of perfection was mastered by these honored submissives. Devoting themselves to a life already decided for them, that life being of service. Everything about this movie is touching and deeply erotic in details.

Alexandre Project – A cockold wife teaches her husband a lesson the hard way.

Irrevsible –A brutal rape turns a husband into a revengeful maniac. The rape scene is realistic and hardcore. Forewarned it is a French movie.

Short Bus – Canadian Much Music VJ Sook Yin Lee plays a sex therapist that can’t orgasm. With the help of a gay couple that she’s coaching she finds a sexual revolution in kink and a hot young Dominatrix.

9/tenths – Forced into the country by war a British couple meets their match with a simple yet resourceful Spanish ranch keeper. The Spaniard seduces the wife and reduces the husband to accept the laws of nature, may the best man win.

and by the way has anyone seen "walk all over me" yet?

Has anyone noticed that dominant female/submale scenarios are far more prevalent, even though the reverse is true in real life.  Someone told me that this is because showing maledom/femsub wasn't allowed on movies - although they look to have relaxed this a bit recently

Actually I think that most vanilla dynamics in movies and tv are either egalitarian or maledom -- it is still the social standard.

But when you add in overt fetishes I think the studios believe that women look best in "dom gear" and will turn on the viewer (whom they still perceive as male) more than seeing the man in whatever it is male doms are supposed to wear.

I also think that most often positive kink is treated as amusing while "kinky images" and items are part of the negative -- rape, murder, crime dramas.

That's just what I see in the mass media I'm exposed to.

Opinion on "My Fair Lady" as a representation of D/s
(If you think it's just a sweet musical, rewatch it)

I don't think Gwendoline (Adventures of Sweet Gwendoline) has been mentioned yet. Loosely based on John Willie's art/story. Has some nice bald ponygirls, and a brief dungeon scene with a bald, cuffed woman being dunked head first into a pool of water.

Two of my favorites

Boxing Helena (1993)
Gifted surgeon Nick Cavanaugh (Julian Sands) seems to have it all -- except his heart's fondest desire: coldhearted temptress Helena (Sherilyn Fenn), who unceremoniously dumps him after a one-night stand. Though she repeatedly rebuffs Nick, he maintains his obsessive pursuit. When Helena becomes a hit-and-run victim in front of Nick's mansion, the disarming doctor takes her inside, imprisons her and literally turns her into his personal Venus. and The Collector (1965)Get ready for an electrifying and chilling film experience that lays bare the intimate longings of a man -- and the woman who has become his captive. Based on the best-selling novel by John Fowles, The Collector tells the story of a quiet London bank clerk (Terence Stamp) whose butterfly-collecting hobby takes a sinister twist when he kidnaps a most unusual specimen -- a beautiful woman (Samantha Eggar). poenkitten

Sama and I recently went to see the uncensored version of "Lust, Caution." It's a Chinese spy-ish movie that came out in late 2007. It is romantic and very exciting, with an amazing take-down scene (slapping-belting-throwing-the-girl-around-the-room-ripping-off-clothing amazing). I was totally squirming in my chair, and every time Sama and I caught each-other's eyes it was all I could do not to giggle! Very hot (and the rest of the movie is really great too.)

Don29 -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (3/19/2008 2:11:42 PM)

One of Roman Polanski's lesser know films - "Bitter Moon" (1992) - has some BDSM scenes.  The film recounts a destructive relationship between a struggling American writer in Paris (played by Peter Coyote), and a Parisien girl (played by Emmanuel Seigner, who is Polanski's wife I think).  It's worth a watch.

I dunno - this is TV not movies, but I saw this first season episode of the Brady Bunch and it got pretty hot with Marcia being brought into Mike's bedroom for punishment and her calling him "Sir"

Very few remember this one. It was unintentionally funny? Or maybe weird twisted intentionally funny.  The interesting thing that I recall was how they switch Dom/sub roles as the love turns to loathing and escalates into fury.

Doomsday - just saw this in theaters (before going to the Society meeting in Hartford, CT actually) and there were two many elements of bdsm to name really. It's a post apocalyptic themed film with one tribe of survivors seeming to have a strong D/s feel to them. I don't want to give too much away but I recommend the movie for those looking for something fun to watch. Hardly a life-changing film but it is sexy, entertaining, and has lots of things blowing up.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid scene where Etta Place is forced (well not really forced) to strip at gun point by the Sundance Kid.

Mistress Spenser's submissive,

SalomeMorte -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (3/26/2008 6:11:41 PM)

I see this is an old thread so I will post one more which is a fairly new movie. The "Heartbreak kid" with Ben Stiller has a honeymoon scene where the kinky wife is trying to get ben's character to slap her. When he refuses she taunts him and asks if he is a "little girl" then slaps him to get him to reciprocate. There is a later scene where she pees on his back when a jellyfish is stuck to it. Also, the movie "Bitter Moon" with Peter Coyote, Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson has loads of scenes that are d/s oriented and fetishistic. That is a great movie by Roman Polanski that I think everyone should see.

bipolarber -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (3/26/2008 8:06:33 PM)

"Matrisse" with Gerrard Depardeu

"Love and Human Remains"

"For Personal Services"

There's an interesting dynamic between John Kramer and Amanda Young in Saw III... that's all I can really say so as to avoid spoilers, though.

oppsss sorry messed up the last post....

Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (120 Days of Sodom) (1975) – If extreme taboos and grotesque, perverted military men tickle your fancy this movie is for you! It’s about 9 girls and boys taken by several Italian officers during the war to become their toys in anyways they see fit; mutilation, sodomy, scat, blood, and even executions. The best part of the movie was the story telling, as they have a “teacher” who explains to the “students” how to enjoy being sexual objects by sharing her past slutty experiences as a paid whore. Truthfully this movie was pretty tame visually as they often only talked of the taboos rather than showing them. But still it is one of the most disgusting and jaw dropping movies regarding BDSM, hence why it is very controversial has been banned numerous times for varies reasons.

Bitter Moon (1992) – Ok I know what your thinking, Hugh Grant in a BDSM film?!!? I know I know, but really this is an interesting film given the chance to prove itself. And yes at times it can be a chick flick but it was also balanced with a good amount of eye candy (aka. soft porn) and mental manipulation (aka. mind fucking). The movie is set on a cruise ship where Hugh is being seduced by not only a gorgeous wife but by her perverted and crippled husband. The husband uses their erotic life story as a way to draw Hugh deeper and deeper into their web.

Walk All Over Me (2007) – This is a fast paced Canadian film, which is entertaining but far from realistic. It reminded me of Run Lola Run mixed with Short Bus as a young lady tries to solve her financial problems by becoming a dominatrix. Though it seems everything thing she does make matters worse and before you know it she’s way in over her head.

8MM (1999) – A P.I. is hired by a rich wife to find out the authenticity of a snuff film she found after her husband’s death. It leads the PI (Nicolas Cage) deep into the world of BDSM and quickly he finds out what a lot of money can buy behind closed doors. But those people aren’t too keen on Cage’s nose being where it doesn’t belong, and quickly realizes he could be the “star” of their next film.

Please, if you are planning on seeing Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (120 Days of Sodom) know that (imho) this is NOT a film to view on the hopes of seeing a titilating movie. It is powerful film about the corruption of absolute power, all of it NON consentual. Even listing it as a BDSM movie is giving me a bit of pause, but i guess i can (somewhat) see the connection, being based on a DeSade book.

TheDamnPyro -> RE: BDSM in the vanilla MOVIES * news flash * (6/26/2008 6:14:25 PM)

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Family Guy yet. There are two episodes which come to mind: "Let's go to the Hop" and "Peter's Two Dads".

In the "hop" episode, Lois and Peter are casually discussing what to do about a drug problem with their children while getting dressed in leather fetish clothing...lois finishes up by sweetly telling peter what the evening's safe word is as he puts on a leather mask and briefly shows the start of her controlling him.

In "two dads," their son Stewie realizes that he is a masochist when his mother Lois spanks him. He then spends the rest of the episode trying to find ways to get his mother to spank him.
