I personaly think he is embarrased by the name. I also wonder why such a big to do is being made about being the first Black candidate to get this far. He is 1/2 White. He seems to forget that to..

I don't see how he can forget it since so many people keep bringing it up.. and I doubt he's ashamed of the name.but with all the cries of "he's a mooz-lim terrist" based on his name, I cant blame him for downplaying it.

Exactly, Toppy - and how illustrative that a humorous thread on elections trivia and the McCains turns into yet another Obama bashing fest .

Saying his middle name shows your intolerance.

And everyone knows intolerance is bad.

I don't use my middle name except when required to.  It's not that I'm at all ashamed of it (in fact I am damned proud of it), it'sjust I don't see the point.
That being said.. Why would he use his middle name in this society where so many people are busy making such a big friggin stink over it?

Not to mention the quotation marks he places there either, but why quibble over such kind and tolerant behavior!

Why don`t the neo-cons expound on Barack`s nice Hebrew first name?

They certainly would, if they thought if would hurt him.

As for the childish/bigot act, everyone knows that using his middle name is code for middle easterner/exotic/scary/terrorist/brown person....

Funny how liberals are all right behind any recovering/ recovered addict UNLESS they happen to be a Republican. And heaven forbid they be a wealthy republican.
I'm not nominating the woman for sainthood here, but compared to what most people do with the money they have she's certainly doing her part.
And adopting their bangledesh daughter, that was certainly more than anyone else in recent history of spouces of presidential candidates have done.
But I'm sure they only did it to get the additional dependant deduction for their taxes in the minds of many here.

Archer, I think it's the hypocisy involved. Take Rush Limbaugh, as an example. He spends show after show berating Gerry Garcia of the Greatful Dead for being a pot smoker, telling his audiance about how glad he was that Gerry died, and how the Dead's music was shit, and the folks who went to their concerts were losers.... all because of the drugs... Then it turns out that the fat fuck himself is addicted to oxycontin, is Doctor shopping to make sure his supply is up, and lying to investigators about it.

Nothing like a high profile asshole being guilty of the very thing he preaches against to inspire people's trust.

And when they bash Rush for it I can see it but Cindy McCain isn't exactly beating the drum that Rush does.

Show me the hypocracy in Cindy McCains story where she beats up on other folks drug use/ addiction.

And meanwhile Obama was in Boston at 60 State Street having a *private* birthday party (No cameras or reporters allowed) for $3.000 a plate with the likes of the "French" looking Senator from Massachusetts John "Irish" Kerry and,............M. STANLEY("I only tackle problems I think I can solve") Dukakis.
Ahhh, to be a fly on the wall!
WRKO radio's Howie Carr got ahold of some of the leftover "$300 desserts" and was eating them the next day on the air.
Dukakis and Kerry, Governor and Lt. Governor in the 1980's took the "Massachusetts Miracle" of a high teck economy and taxed it right out of existence!
New Hampshire and other states are STILL gratefull for that!
