This is enlightening!!!!  This is probably what it does to our brain power - like putting your head in a microwave, eh?  Check this out!   And we're supposed to believe that cell phones are safe?

Click on the word 'POPCORN' below and watch.

Renegade:   On the outside chance you believe this junk just know that extensive studies have been done in England, Germany and the United States and there is NO evidence that use of a cell phone can damage the human brain (or those of rats or monkeys.)

It May not pop popcorn but I do know who the studies were bought & paid by...
Tell Me why there are Drs. coming forward to say these studies are bogus Check out Dr. Mercola at

Doesn't sound like he'd be good to believe in after seeing his site.  He's also got a wiki entry "Mercola has received a pair of warnings from the FDA for marketing nutritional products in a manner which violated the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.[2][3] He is a member of the politically conservative Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, as well as several alternative medicine-related organizations.["

No thanks.  Dr. Bombay is more credible than Dr. Mercola.

I personally have absolutely no confidence in the FDA & anyone who does needs to further Check thier track record... Here's a start as to how & when they & the AMA came to be, they're both owned by the Pharma-Petro chemical co.s

You folks probably believe that Microwaves don't harm you either...

We had a homework problem on figuring out the field strength coming off a microwave.  It was way under the safety limits.  The early microwaves leaked a bit, but they don't nowadays.

If that was enough to damage people, you'd see a shitload of rf/microwave engineers with cancer.

So how DID they get the kernals to pop?  I want to do it at my next party.

MasterRenegade77 -> RE: Popcorn & Cell Phones (8/5/2008 4:32:35 PM)

I'll tell ya what try this little experiment
Get 2 styrofoam cups put nuked on one & tap on the other fill each with ordinary dirt placing a few seeds in each... Then get two different containers for water, fill one W/tap water fill the other w/tap water but nuke it (Let cool of course)... Then use only the corresponding waters & water the seeds for a couple of days... Bet you don't know which set of seeds won't grow!!!

thornhappy -> RE: Popcorn & Cell Phones (8/5/2008 4:48:40 PM)

Are you seriously suggesting that there's a difference?  If you are, did you also try it with conventionally boiled water?  Or with a china/glass container instead of styrofoam?

That's so cute Stephann, that you tried.  Complete waste of time and effort, but cute nonetheless.

I'm saying that the seeds that are watered with the nuked water will not grow... You can use china, ceramic or whatever kind of pots you like & conventionally boil the tap water if you wish, the result will remain the same...

Here was an experiment, note that the control also did not sprout, compliments of Debra Lynn Dadd.

"
We made six samples of water:
  • unmodified Clearwater Florida tap water, which contains chloramines and fluoride
  • Clearwater Florida tap water passed through our whole-house water filter which we purchased from Go Beyond Organic. This unit removes chloramines, fluoride, and other pollutants that may be present--leaving the healthful minerals--then passes the water through a water conditioner that returns tap water to it's natural structure. This was not heated.
  • Clearwater Florida tap water heated just to boiling in a glass jar in a microwave oven.
  • Clearwater Florida tap water heated just to boiling in a Corning Visions glass pot on an electric stove.
  • Clearwater Florida tap water heated just to boiling in a Corning Visions glass pot on an gas stove. We allowed the heated waters to cool and placed all the water samples in glass jars with covered labels. Without knowing the contents, I labeled the jars A, B, C, D, and E.

We set up five identical ceramic ramekins on a small cookie sheet and labeled them A, B, C, D, and E. We placed one piece of folded paper towel in each ramekin and added Chinese chive seeds. Every day we watered the seeds with one tablespoon of water. All the ramekins were sitting next to each other on one cookie sheet, under the exact same conditions. We had no knowledge of which water was going into which ramekin.

After ten days, the seeds watered with water from our water filter began to sprout. The little sprouts grew quickly, strong, and straight. The next day, the seeds watered with the water heated over the gas flame and on the electric stove began to sprout, but these sprouts were short and crooked.

The seeds watered with microwaved water never sprouted, though we continued to water them for another week. Also, the seeds watered with our Clearwater Florida municipal tap water never sprouted.

The dramatic results of this experiment made us want to do it again, using these samples, plus additional water samples. We want to test the bottled spring water we had been drinking before purchasing this filter, and a sample of water exposed to sunlight. And we want to test alkaline water. So there's more to come on this topic.

If you have any thoughts about this experiment, run across any other data on the effects of water on seed sprouting or do this experiment yourself, please send me an email.

Given these results, I'm surprised that there is not more data about this for gardeners, raw food devotees, bird owners, and others who regularly sprout seeds.

NOTE: My conclusion from this experiment was that "microwaved water did not sprout seeds." But I went into the experiment wanting to find out if it would or it wouldn't. What I hadn't anticipated was that the control tap water wouldn't sprout seeds, either. A reader pointed out that "The experiment indicates that water that will not support sprouting is not improved enough by microwaves to allow the seeds to sprout. The experiment in no way shows that microwaves made the water less able to sprout the seeds." So I can see now that to answer the question as to whether or not microwaved water will or will not sprout seeds must use as the control water that will actually sprout seeds and then test that water, microwaved, to see if it will sprout seeds."

Trust Me Nuked water will never allow the seeds to sprout...
A brief lesson on Microwaves, the germans were the first to work w/them prior to & during WW2after they were beaten the Russians took thier technology back to Russia & did extensive studies on the all were negative, plus they banned them in 1976... Go to Google Type Microwaves & the Russians several sites will pop up one for example

So then because something was banned in another country 50 years ago I shouldnt use it to cook my burrito?
also, In montana I actually watered my plants with nuked water, and they grew just fine (admittedly they were cacti)
