Communicate, don't pretend. That last one is perhaps the most important in your case - why would your sub assume you've done it all, know it all? If she does it is because you pretended. I use a checklist, that we both fill out, that details interests and experience. The sub and I then both sign and date that list, and it becomes a form of contract. One major advantage of doing this is that I frequently hear a new sub go: "What's that?", and then sometimes "I'd like to try that", and at other times "Yechh". Etc. I have actually had one sub try to sue me for the ownership of the photographs I took of her in use, an was able to send her attourney packing with one letter. He was from a flyover state , and she from West Virginia, so it was not hard, but you get what I mean.
