Living in Britain, most of the time I only message British girls. My response rate is abysmal (well, I'm told it's actually quite good for a male dom messaging female subs, but it feels like it's abysmal). Yet on the rare occasions I message American girls for whatever reason, I always get a response. Why is that? :S

Maybe it's the promise of the exotic (separated by a common language!!), and being an ocean away. Or maybe the timid ones answer because you are an ocean away??

In my experience UK men are often cruel to their women whereas American men tend to get down on one knee, offering gifts of chocolate and roses

American women don't know this, as a rule, while British women do - which could explain some of what you're observing

......so you've seen a UK man or men being cruel to their partner. Fair enough. i've seen men and women of many nationalities be cruel to their partners. So, from that you leap, headfirst, to UK men are often cruel. Furthermore, the underlying subtext of your post was that this was a common occurence, while US men are almost never like that. It's a sweeping assumption. Unless you've run a big survey, in which case, i'd like to see the link and examine your methodology.

The social situation in the UK is different from that in the USA, in many ways.  That is going to affect how men and women behave toward each other.

Perhaps it would be gracious if you had acknowledged that sweeping generalisations may be fun, but that they shouldn't ever be disguised as anything more than that. Unless you want to shoot your credibility in the foot. Again.

Holy cow, you know I've noticed American men being cruel to their women. Maybe all men are cruel to all women and all women should become lesbians?

Laffs.  I usually respond to all email but when I get one from a guy overseas I assume all he wants is wanker material and feel a little annoyed.  I suppose I'm more curt in my responses sometimes because of this.

Hmmm... a bit of a southern accent does make for more attention up north.  The perception of an accent may be right.

I would agree that it could be the possibility of that hot British accent, or it could be that you are "safe" in that you are far, far away.  Or it could be that yes, perhaps those individuals that you message, have the courtesy to message back.  I personally generally do, and I am not in the market for anyone in my life in that regard right now.  Just to let them know hey, I got your message, sorry I ain't the one, but good luck to you and all that. 

While we are having great fun picking on the sweeping generalization that UK men are "often cruel to their women" this generalization isn't too radically different than the one that the OP presents, as to whether US women are more "polite/nice/desperate/etc" than UK women.  I have encountered some mean-ass bitches (male AND female) right here in Green Country.  And some are nice as pie.  There are all sorts of nuts in every demographic, in every portion of the populated world.  But for now, I am off to do a happy dance, its Friday!!!!  [sm=yahoo.gif]
