LichPrincess -> An odd question about pro-domming... (8/8/2008 2:55:31 PM)

I'd like to start doing sessions for money. I've had three or for years of experience, trained as a sub first, and have worked hard to learn the things I've been told makes a successful pro-domina. I know I'm young (21), so I don't plan on charging an arm and a leg for my services. I just have one question that is holding me back.

I have body acne.  Should I give up on the idea of going pro entirely? I'd like to believe that any client I have will be so entranced by my skill and enthusiasm that he'll overlook the little red bumps on my back, but I know /I/ certainly have a hard time ignoring them. It's hard to feel sexy and confident when I'm worried someone is grossed out by my acne.

If you have the man "entranced", I doubt  he will not notice any "red bumps".  I woulnd't worry about something that small and trivial.
Good luck!

Are you planning to do a lot of back worship sessions?[:-]

You could always, you know, wear clothes.

A much bigger deal is the legal stuff.  Check the Ask A Mistress section from a week ago.  There's some excellent posts there.

Seriously, just wear a shirt that doesn't show your back.  I'm confused by this.

LichPrincess -> RE: An odd question about pro-domming... (8/8/2008 3:16:25 PM)

I mean, if I'm wearing a corset, the bumps are visible on my shoulders and my upper back. It just seems awkward to be topping someone while wearing a turtleneck sweater.

Perhaps not a turtleneck (though there is a domme look like that), but a crisp white shirt under the corset?  I believe that a few pictures from OWK feature this look.

Good idea, Alix. I suppose I have this idea in my head of what a Domina is supposed to look like, corsets and vinyl skirts, etc, and forgot about any other options.

Venatrix -> RE: An odd question about pro-domming... (8/8/2008 3:37:29 PM)

You could wear a sleeveless, high-necked top with a zip up the front, in latex, leather, PVC, spandex, whatever.  You could also wear a military-type uniform.  There are loads of options - check out the clothing sections on fetish sites on the Internet for ideas.  I bet you're going to have a lot of other issues that will turn out to be a lot more time consuming to deal with than worrying about the state of your back.

MsStarlett -> RE: An odd question about pro-domming... (8/8/2008 3:44:26 PM)

Think CAT WOMAN!  As in Michelle Pfeiffer or Julie Newmar!  Sexy as heck but covered from nose to toes.

Alixandria -> RE: An odd question about pro-domming... (8/8/2008 3:45:53 PM)

As a follow-up, an awful lot of the sub menfolk I've talked to, got their first fantasies based on this woman:

Nudity is not all it's cracked up to be.  Being covered up can be alluring and has the side benefit of providing a small amount of legal protection.  (Though the legal issues need to be researched).

HeavansKeeper -> RE: An odd question about pro-domming... (8/8/2008 3:48:24 PM)

You could use your youth to an advantage and be an age play younger top. I'm sure there are people with the desire for age play where the top is "younger". In fact, I've never seen it, you could be quite the rarity.

I've spent special times with women who had body acne (I have some myself) and it's not so bad. Many people think the pro-domme has to be Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but perfection is not mandatory. There are many pro-dommes with less attractive bodies than yours based on height, weight, age, and other imperfections.

It's hard to not be self conscious, but try. Confidence weighs more heavily than blemishes.

Um, who is holding the whip?

"Mistress, there're some bumps on your back!"

"Twenty extra strokes for mentioning that!"

I'm by no means an expert, but here is what I can share of my thoughts and experiences:

Definitely, take a moment and think how *you* would prefer to look and dress while in a session.  After you've decided the ways you're wanting to look in sessions you can then deal with clients seeking the way you look and/or what you do.

If overtly fetish gear suits you, do what you'd do in a social setting:  dress in only those manners you feel beautiful and comfortable (both as yourself and in physical ability for the activity ahead... corsets are not terribly suited to some types of play).  Once you've decided on those ways, advertise those as options (if you feel powerful and comfortable in a schoolmarm-ish outfit and have them to wear, advertise yourself so.  if you love latex getups and have them, advertise yourself so.  et cetera).

If you don't like overtly fetish gear, pick the outfit styles you have and like and advertise yourself that way.

You don't have to be Stereotype Dominatrix unless you wish to and will be able to rock that in play.  There are sub- and bottom-clients that like all sorts of looks and many who don't care what you wear as long as they're getting their fetish/kink-need filled.  And then some that you'll find you both just clique, as with any social or work acquaintance.

If you put things on you're self-conscious about, spots showing or style of gear or whatever, you're not going to enjoy your time in session, your unease is going to show through subtley to your client.  Advertise yourself and your interests in topping/dom'ing and then weed the subs that contact you despite a clear lack of match (because you can say all day I don't do X or wear Y and you'll still get plenty asking, begging, for each).

YES... DEFINATELTY!!!  You should give it up an entirely,  go completely sub, move to Daytona and live in my red cage as a slave.

Seriously though, your assets far outweigh your flaws.  I am sure your clients will be pleased with you if your persona is half of what you project with your body language in your photos.

LichPrincess -> RE: An odd question about pro-domming... (8/8/2008 5:30:03 PM)

Sorry, ResidentSadist, but Daytona is too warm and humid for my fragile Scandinavian flesh: D

Here's a thread you should read, LichPrincess.  Kinda puts the back thing in perpective.

I don't know what your circumstances are, but my kid was able to get effective acne treatments at her college health care cliinic....why not get the problem taken care of?

Best wishes.

Oh, Hell, hon.. I got some of MY first fantasies based on Emma!!! I'm neither sub nor male, but I wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers... at least, not till I was done with her!
