patina -> knife play (8/8/2008 7:52:40 PM)

Hi

I am confused on something.  i was told that knife play was just using the edge of a very dull knife and it was scraped along the skin, as if you were brushing crumbs off your leg.

But another Dom told me that knife play is taking the pointed tip of a knif and cutting out a piece of flesh from a girl ass and yhen spraying alochol on it.  This same dom told me i would regret not accepting him as my master.  I really don't thnk what he said was true but wanting to make sure of what it is.

can someone tell me what knife play is?

Anything you can do with a knife like object that won't land you in jail.

Both things you describe above are not out of the realm of possibility.

A more moderated approach to knife play involves drawing the point and the edge along the skin, leaving behind anything from red marks to scratches to bleeding cuts... it is up to the people involved.

SlvrFox -> RE: knife play (8/8/2008 8:10:54 PM)

I love knife play, especially edge play. I have a Dom friend that I session with and He will have one knife laying on ice and then take another and run it over a candle flame. He uses the edge and He does leave very lovely red welts but never cuts the skin. The sensations from the hot and cold on the skin are awesome. And as Alumbrado states it is up to the people involved as to how far they want to push that limit or edge.

What he said about knife play may well be true, for him.  That part about you regretting not accepting him as your master, though -- unlikely to be true (just because he's the type that says that sort of thing).

Knife play is just what it sounds like -- playing with knives.  Different people do it in different ways.  Some of it's delicious sensation only, and some of it draws blood.

--persephonee wondering the same thing as Allondra and planning to call her knife dom later today and have him sharpen up some steel for me tonite at the dungeon.

knife play in my limited little world consists of tracings with a possibility of slight bleeding. Its more about the mindfuck of where the knife ends up...dragging that shiney blade against my neck, allowing it to absorb my elevated pulse and move on its own...realizing that if he wanted toooo...he could.....ohgod, what is his number....

sublizzie -> RE: knife play (8/9/2008 5:22:42 AM)

The knife play I've been involved in has not involved pieces of flesh being carved from my body. THAT I would object to. What I've experienced has been a very, very sharp shiny object being used to draw things on my skin. I don't remember it breaking the skin, though it may have. Mostly I end up with a pretty picture on my skin.

While some people may remove pieces of flesh, I'm thinking he's just getting off on a mind fuck he's doing with you. Or overcompensating for something that a little Viagra might help.

There is no end-all-be-all definition of course.  Generally there are 3 activities that involve sharp, pointy objects: knife play, cutting and needle play (aka: play piercings).

Definitions which are common at least in my community:

Knife play - using a knife, regardless of sharpness, on someone's skin.  Usually without drawing blood or breaking the skin.

Cutting - using a knife, scalpel or other sharp object to cut the skin and draw blood.  Sometimes this is done in an artistic fashion to leave behind patterned scars or other intentional markings.

Play Piercings - using sterile needles to pierce though the skin.  Frequently done in multiples / rows and sometimes including decorative elements.

antipode -> RE: knife play (8/10/2008 9:26:00 AM)

Generically, knife play is edge play, it is not erotic if it is just pretense. So be cautious, the knife should be as sharp as a razor blade, and slight cuts, with proper aftercare, should be expected. Some subs go a lot further than "slight", however, after all, "cutting" is a largely female endeavour. Having said all that, do what you're comfortable with. I have a lovely little razor sharp knife that connects to a TENS unit, it sees little use, and that is just fine, too.. No, dull, is just, ah, dull...[:-]

Thank you all for your help.  I have told all doms talking with me i do not do anything that deals with cutting or drawing any kind of blood as I am on blood thinner.  I tend to bleed a lot if cut even small cut, and i bruise very easily so ca not be hit with certain objects.  although i do not mind the bruises, in time they heal.  i guess this is one reason i have turned more to the Gorean side i do not have to worry about the kink side of slavery.  No disrespect intended and willing to accept or work with a Dom who can accept my difficulties,

Thank you all again, master and slaves alike

A small room. A single light bulb swinging back back and forth. A sharp blade pressed against your throat. A menacing voice whispering in your ear.. "I'll ask just once more. Answer me .. or you will drown on your own blood!"

Popcorn anyone?

Yes to both
and everything in between...
from rubbing butter knives to cutting to stabbing to fucking with the handle... it is all of these things, to different people

StrongSpirit -> RE: knife play (8/10/2008 2:09:06 PM)

Then there is using a knife to cut her clothing off.  Never even have to touch her skin.

Still knife play.

P.S.  I can not imagine ever regretting playing with someone that said "You'll regret not playing with me."

Similarly, knife to the eye, hissing this in her ear (with thanks to David Mamet):  "Honey, you got all the slack in the world until I leave this room. Then I'm gonna zero you out."

I don't separate knife play from terror play.  I summon up a lot of anger and redirect it at her when the knives come out.  But then, she's a fear junkie anyway.  Gets us both off, especially when I drink her blood.

Madame4a -> RE: knife play (8/11/2008 11:33:52 AM)

Any real cutting of the skin to draw blood should be done with a scalpel.. knives are not easy to clean and are rarely sharp enough... they're great for terror and scratchy unpleasant (to some) sensations...

uhmmm.. and not edge play for everyone.. they're not edge play for me.. I use knives, although I don't ever think I'm able to terrorize anyone with a knife... scalpel in my hand is another story.. and I prefer it.. *grin*

Not trying to be argumentative, but I disagree about both cleaning and sharpness.  I have knives which cut easier than a scalpel and easily clean with a soft cotton rag.  I wouldn't cut two different people on the same evening with the same blade, but then, I don't interact casually - there's a commited dynamic before I'll bleed someone.

However, scalpels are easier to cut pretty designs into someone's skin.  Knives are clunky for that.

As for terrorizing someone, hold one at their eye, the other at their genitals, look directly at them and tell them if they move you get to choose which knife takes a body part.  As long as you don't giggle, if you've worked them into the right head space beforehand, trust me, they'll be terrorized.

Or at least need the bathroom.

You should never have to "worry about the kink side of slavery"; nor should you allow yourself to feel confined to "the Gorean side" because you are not into certain kinks.  It's about finding the right fit- and taking the time and effort to find someone who is compatible with you.  If that someone is Gorean- great.  But, unless Gorean 'philosophy' makes you feel that's where you belong- I see no reason to limit your potential partners to Gor- or to avoid contact with folks in the D/s or BDSM categories.
