I think creativity is a basic human drive.  I myself have always written, as well as tried many different crafts.  I find I am much more drawn to a man who identifies himself in any way as artistic.  Many -- maybe most -- of my friends are creative, some quite talented.

What are your thoughts?

People who are not creative in some way bore me.

Which is why I tend to have creative friends.

And a lot of rather odd friends.

It depends on how you define Creativity, really.  Artistic?  Good with their hands and making things?  Talented in some form of what is generally called an Artistic Endeavor, whether that be visual or musical?

I have a few friends who are extremely talented as far as things like carpentry and building and mechanical works.  One buddy jokes, "If you can break it, I can fix it."  And considering some of the things he's Fixed for me, I'd say he's not far off.  The friend that does contracting work for my various Projects getting this house in shape is quite creative in his use of materials, and coming up with designs that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.  Ask either of them to sing and they'll set off the neighborhood dogs to howling maniaclly.  Dance? HA!  2 left feet, both of 'em.  Draw or Paint - not a chance.  (Well, one of them has painted - and it was quite good - but he has no real Love for doing so.)

I have enough creativity that my friends don't necessarily Need to be creative in that sense.  I'm a trained singer with a classical background in opera, I paint and have even sold a few of my paintings, I write both story and poetry and have had a few poetry pieces published while in college, I do belly dance, ballroom dance, squaredance, and have done jazz and ballet in the distant past.  My job Requires that I be creative - part mad scientist, part artist.  As long as my friends have an appreciation of the creative process, and an appreciation of the finished product from the creative process, that's fine with me.  I'm certainly not going to banish them from friendship based on whether they themselves have any creative talents.

I'm just wondering who is going to say "nah I like accountants and the more predictable and uncreative, the better." IMOSVHO, which is often wrong I hear, I think you'll have trouble finding a human being that isn't creative in some way and if you think you've found someone that isn't creative then that usually just means you've failed to see the ways in which they are creative.

How many years have humans been painting in caves? Of course being creative is a vital part of humanity, our progress is tied to it. Can't do something, create a way around it.

Personally? I make my living through my writing and I make a good living at it. I head up a small publishing company on top of it so I deal with very creative sorts all day. It's fun and good and I'm grateful for it but that doesn't mean I only seek out people similar to me.

The husband is logical, sensible, straight forward and stable. He's human so he's creative in his own ways but he isn't 'artistic' creative. Which explains why we get along so well!
Artisitc and Creative should be hold different meanings. I've known artistic people who weren't creative and those with ooddles of creativity that weren't artistic. One trait isn't better than the other and most people have a good mix of both in them.  I do like creative submissives but would I turn away a responsive accountant? Nope. It's about balance and I think if someone only interacts with one personality type, one 'style' of person or one set of viewpoints they'll miss out on a lot of good things and people.

ooh, i like this - i wish i had thought of it first. My Sir considers me creative - and i am - and himself not at all. But this is the same man who writes and researches outlines for sermons for a minister of one of Oklahomas biggest churches. If that isn't a combination of creativity and intelligence i don't know what is, but he doesn't see it that way.

We are all creative in some form. It may not be an easily recognised form but we all have the capacity for creating something outside ourselves.

Creativity is a basic human drive, we all seek to create and many by procreation. Life is creativity

Myself, I am at my best when I am engaged in the creative, be that photography, jewellery making, forge work, woodwork, painting, drawing, writing or just plain fixing and restoring things that are broken.

When life seems crap, turning to creativity I forget the outside world and emerge from my creativity with a fresh outlook in that being creative is healing for the spirit.

Creativity is a trait I look for in forming any relationship.  It keeps things fresh and interesting.  I am an artist and all my friends are artists of one kind or another as well  I have tried to carry on a relationship with someone who did not have the same spark a few times, but it never worked. I surround myself with people who have something to say and an interesting way to say it.

You mean having two jokes under consideration by Reader's Digest isn't enough?

Myself and most of my friends are with the creative, mad, eccentric character personality types.
