Since discovering this thing we do, what was the longest time you have went alone with no intimate contact between relationships?

Well, I discovered "this thing we do" in my late teens, I suppose, but didn't enter into a D/s or M/s based relationship until I met Master.  Therefore, He is the first and only so there was no time "between" BDSM relationships for me.

As NuevaVida said, I also met my Master while still in a "destructive marriage."  We had been physically separated for years, however, and I told him about meeting someone new and wanting to move on.  Then....long story short...I did.  I've been with Master over two years now, living with Him for over one and married going on 4 months.  Oh yeah, it's "actually worked out" wonderfully  [image]http://www.collarchat.com/upfiles/smiley/banana.gif[/image]..............luci

though i was never collared by him, it was 3wks between leaving my former and meeting Daddy

we'll be celebrating 2yrs of togetherness on the 13th

The longest?
6 months without physical contact. I think of thatas some sort of rule of thumb.
But in terms of going without bdsm relationship of some nature: meeting for a date, chatting, camming, texting, phonming? i never remain alone as there are constant demands made upon me as a  friend, writer and kink aware therapist.
One pattern emerges though; that when i let go of them physically, release myself..... they want me back...........

I haven't been collared or in any relationship of any kind at all in over 9 yrs now. I've been with men since then but nothing that amounted to anything more than a few dates, some casual fucking/playing but even that was very rare since I admit I'm very choosey about who I want to be around.

Several years for me. I can't say I'd really recommend that to anyone who doesn't feel like they need that kind of alone time for some particular reason.. Long periods of time without intimate contact with others can wear a person down emotionally. I've found that its just not healthy for me. That's pretty much common sense though, I suppose.

I went 6 years before being 'reinlisted' to the same Owner. I tried to be involved with others, but it was always just skimming the surface of what I truely desired and I quickly found myself bored and sometimes even angry. I bounced around trying to figure out what I wanted ever since He and I ended things, and when I suddenly found myself in His presence again, I realized that He was all I'd ever wanted. Worked out very well I think *grins*

*edited cuz I can't spell

i love this story. It makes me happy.

lally3 -> RE: Lifestyle Frenzy: How long can you go without a collar? (8/10/2008 2:14:29 PM)

in my vanilla life i think the minimum time between partners was 2 years.  it took me four years after my sons dad and i broke up and that was a strongly D/s relationship - the bond was very deep.  the subsequent D/s relationship took 2 years to bounce back from.  and my most recent D/s... hmm, no more than a month!

but then until quite recently i was finding it hard to move on.  i met a couple of guys who were really nice, but i didnt feel the 'pull' - and that might have carried on for ages and ages.  but this weekend i met someone and the 'pull' was/is very strong.

before i wouldnt have looked atall. i would have settled into a peaceful place and let the process take its time.  maybe because it finished in such a way as to make everything that happened a nonsense i was able to move on more quickly and resume my search without needing to regroup.

i guess it depends upon the intensity - what i have noticed though is that alot of men (not all) are able to move on a lot quicker, regardless of the intensity of their previous relationship.

Collars and partners are not the same thing, so your tittle is misleading. I have never been collared in the almost 8 years I have been doing kinky things, however I've had 3 dominant partners, and many many playmates in those years.

And yes I have met with in a week of loosing the x and it's worked out. Usually we'd been talking for friends for several months and liking each other an then when my opertunity came and I was single again we got involved. First one lasted a year,  Second time lasted 4 years, this one has lasted almost 3 years,

There have been some threads recently that makes me wonder, "How long can some people can go without a "partner in this lifestyle" (ewww! sorry for lack of a better term)?"

Has anybody met within two weeks of actually ending a relationship, and it actually worked out?

IvyMorgan -> RE: Lifestyle Frenzy: How long can you go without a collar? (8/10/2008 2:19:27 PM)

9 years

LaTigresse -> RE: Lifestyle Frenzy: How long can you go without a collar? (8/10/2008 2:24:46 PM)

Edited due to brain fart.......

I am not certain this is a question I should be answering. I've always had such fulfilling relationships, of various sorts, in my life that I've never felt I was going without. So many people I am close to, share intimacy of some type with.

It's been almost two years since I lost jemma. That was my second, and last, D/s type relationship. It was a complex and, at times, painful relationship. I knew I'd made alot of mistakes and saw the potential in myself to do great harm. I realized I needed to take a HUGE step back and assess what I wanted, and what I needed to do to be able to have that.

What I want has evolved over time. I used to think that I needed a romantic D/s long term commitment. Now, I've come to realize that perhaps I am not the best person for that. I would go on about that but that isn't what this thread is about so..........

If things continue as I am planning I've got one girl moving in here in October and another potentially coming for a visit.

I'm starting to think that, for me, the collar is one of the symbols of a working relationship -- like having to wear a uniform as a nurse or policeman.

This makes a lot of sense to me.  I don't draw comparisons between a collar and a wedding ring.  When I was collared, for me it meant that I was a slave to the person who collared me.  Nothing more and nothing less.

velvetears -> RE: Lifestyle Frenzy: How long can you go without a collar? (8/10/2008 4:10:03 PM)

Only been collared one time and that was over about 5 to 6 years ago.  i have had other partners since than but in all honesty i don't have an interest at this point in my life to be collared.  Too much to work on in my life to be able to really feel i could put forth the time and attention i would need to be in that kind of relationship.

LadyPact -> RE: Lifestyle Frenzy: How long can you go without a collar? (8/10/2008 4:48:20 PM)

There are actually several answers for Me.  Within those, please understand that some of them overlap.

No relationship of any kind, which includes celibacy and no BDSM play whatsoever.  A year.

Time between actual collars, eight years.

Time between dynamics where someone was considered more than a play partner, but were not collared, not long at all.  I'd honestly have to do the math.

Quickest time from one serious partner leaving, and having a successful dynamic starting, less than a month.

My My My, what a topic here.  Personally, it's ranged from within a week to a few monthes for me.

Probally the longest period being a year and a half, without being involved or getting involved with somebody.

I really don't have any set space in mind, when it feels right to me, is when it happens.

I'll never base another relationship on lust and infatuation again-it's a train wreck waiting to find a crossing.

That does indeed sound like a bit of wisdom learned by standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. Wise words nonetheless...

~~FR~~

Been single for several years (uhm, I think about 4).... haven't had anyone collared in 10..... but have had many play partners and just dating situations.

I haven't found the right "click" to make me decide on a dedicated situation yet.

realtuffdom -> RE: Lifestyle Frenzy: How long can you go without a collar? (8/10/2008 6:52:32 PM)

It's been a long time. With each year, it feels less and less like it's ever going to happen again. Sometimes, you just have to realize that the brass ring only comes around a few times and then go on with your life.

stella41b -> RE: Lifestyle Frenzy: How long can you go without a collar? (8/11/2008 5:27:18 AM)

Real time it's been 3 years. I've never been collared and I'm inclined to believe I never will.. I understand the significance of a collar, that the significance is about as individual as the relationship of which the collar is a part of, and this is about as far as it goes. I'm defined by who I am, here and now, not by what I have, nor whether I'm collared or in a relationship or not.
