Status: offline 		I went with Dune.  Star Wars never drew me.  Star Trek, while given more exploration than Dune was, never providied the same appeal both viscerally and intellectually.  So Dune it was, for story.

Though visually, Star Trek's always played out better.

As for Dune, I inherited most of the novels years back. I only managed to get through about five or six of those huge things. After a while it got a bit dry like the namesake. The amount of time covered by those books is amazing, but easy to get lost in.

My favorite was Star Trek, the Next Generation. But I always had a huge crush on Worf so that may be why!

Status: offline 		Ummm, all of the above. I was going to say that someone was slacking and didn't mention SG-1 (or SG Atlantis) but I see someone else has already mentioned them.

(I have a monster named after Patrick Stewart....but that beats naming him Jean-Luc like I know some people who did that!)

Status: offline 		I have read all the original Dune series and loved every book.  I cannot say the same about any of the Star Trek books.  I've read several issues of the Star Wars comic series and thought that was not too bad.  As far as the films go, I have to say I prefer the Star Wars series (Episode IV most), I hated the first attempt at a Dune film.  The second one was better but like so many films based on books, it fell short of expectations.  Star Trek Wrath of Khan will always be special to be but the rest of those films never much for me (though, of course I have seen them all).
