No kidding? I knew Vir (Steven Furst (Fierstein or Fuerstein I recall)) when he went to school at VCU in Richmond. I have Season 3 disc 5 on right at this very moment. Only ST:DS9 comes close to it. The continuity, scripts, subplots, character development, etc. are all superior to any other series, IMO. Star Wars had too much materiel aimed at the youngest demographic segment, I think. Sort of "campy", as was ST:TOS at times. ST:NexGen and Voyager are at the bottom of the list, but, having said that, I'll still watch them over almost anything else on the Zombiebox except a good film.

But Babylon 5, well, it's in a class of its own. Zooty Zoot Zoot! Firefly was excellent, as well. And of course SG-1. They must have wasted a ton of film from cracking up. There's some outstandin comedic moments in the series. The special edition version of the film is excellent. The theater release had some bad edits, IMO.
Atlantis has its moments, too, but I just cannot stand the way "Rodney" is played.

BattleStar Galactica. Wow. At the top of my list with B5.

With his looks plus that Centauri hair, he always seemed to me like a clone of Larry Fine from the Stooges.

Londo

A woman I was acquainted with was a big Londo fan. She made some B5 art - elegant pencil drawings; quite good in my lay opinion - that she exhibited at a (B5 or world?) convention in Great Britain. He was also present and tried to get some of her art for free. She did not indulge him and afterward was quite mad at that cheap character.

The question is which series of ST or SW??  I voted SW because of the origianl trillogy, but ST next generation is good too...

Ever notice no one called Data or Worf #2?  hmmm who was #2?  and if Riker was #1, does that make Picard Zero?

I wonder if Leah remember kissing Luke after she found out they were siblings...

Ok, I'll stop.. for now...

Wow a fellow geekophile.

Niiice!

never got into Battlestar Galactia... even though I got tons of Swag from them when I was a Media whore. I ended up giving it away to my fellow geeksters.

I still remember the look on his face when I said Zooty Zoot Zoot at him.. *chuckles* Surpised I survived it.

i never got into sg-1 until cub moved in and started watching it with him.  loved the o'neill character, his sarcasm was alot of fun.  atlantis hasn't lived up to the stargate name in my opinion.  i liked most of the star trek series and it's offspring.  star trek the movie, the first one, is a guaranteed cure for insomnia.  i'm not sure i've ever made it thru the whole movie.

I agree, PM--as much as I like Star Trek, the first movie was pretty bad--it has maybe 15-20 minutes that are worth watching (the scene where you first see the Enterprise WAS almost worth the rest)

SG-1 has some of the best, fully developed characters of any show I've ever seen.
I happen to like Carter the best myself, being the scientist/geek that I am....and the fact that she is sexy as hell does not hurt, either!

I have to agree with many of the other opinions here, but hands down Firefly & Battlestar Galactica take the cake for me. I say Firefly because unlike soooo many of the other series, it's early demise (godamn FOX) was both a blessing and a curse. I say blessing because it was ended before the series began to get filler, and became corporately tainted. Hell, look at how different; although no less amazing; Serenity was to the actual series. Battlestar Galactica is just...wow, where do I begin. The amazing space battles, ground battles, and the immense sense of paranoia that it invokes, leaving you wondering who the frak is a Cylon. Star Wars....gotta go with the original trilogy, before Lucas embarked on his apparent god-given quest to completely destroy the franchise. (Clone Wars: The CGI piece of shit anyone?) Star Trek TNG was good, but was a little dry on action for me and the original series is classic but just hilarious. Started reading Dune but never really got to finish the novel, but did love the second movie/mini-series adaptation. Ok, enough ranting....

I'm also going to have to go with Battlestar Galactica, after long deliberation.

Is there something wrong with this?? I squealed when I found pinkraygun.com and it's horror counterpoint.

As for the eternal Star Trek vs Star wars debate - Star wars wins, only if you don't count the prequels. Otherwise, Star Trek wins, as long as you only count the original for the camp factor, and TNG for Picard. Throw them all into the mix, and it's a big hot mess.

edited for awful typing.

A few you left out:

Farscape
Dr. Who
Torchwood
The Prisoner
Max Headroom
The Avengers (Emma Peel!)
The Outer Limits

and... I wish this had gone to series... "Spectre" (perhaps the greatest series never made)

I reaaally didn't like the Dune books - so I never exposed myself to further Dune.  but . . . in Galactica, isn't Lucy Lawless a spacedomme?  because that in itself would place it on the top of the list

ya, buffy's cute, but Lucy is just sooooo . . . yep

I love Lucy Lawless, but I loved her more as a brunette! I know the blonde is her natural color, but it just doesn't do the same thing for me.
