Why would the Chi Com Government want to mare what was otherwise a beautiful opening?

In this day in age did they really think they would get away with it? Why not let the beauty of the actual event speak for itself?

I don't really see that big of a deal here. A lot of what we see these days is manufactured ... something like the footprints that they filmed before time due to production concerns doesn't bother me.

I thought they did an awesome job with the show. But then again, I don't consider special effects cheating.
