Yeah well I think what Alumbrado might have been trying to suggest(apologies Al if I'm mistaken)is that the pell mell rush to return everything back to the old Cold War dynamic of east vs. west has a new player to contend with...call them the far east?

Yes, there has been criminal reprisals by para-militaries in Georgia itself but we are taling about who started the war and Russia's right to respond.

And BBC Online is not nearly as quick to condemn Georgia as are you.

I doubt Russia is scared of it. They are probably laughing so hard they're pissing their pants at how retarded Bush's diplomatic skills are.

In fact, the Bush administration's strategic foreign policy is so imcompetant, Russia must be regretting the fact that Bush has to leave office in November.

Well in that we will be of the same mind, but have no fear meatcleaver,I'm sure you will have high regard for whom ever wins in Nov.,seeing how fair and balanced you have been here...

More fun today...

"It's also the case that when you threaten Poland, you perhaps forget that it is not 1988," Rice said. "It's 2008 and the United States has a ... firm treaty guarantee to defend Poland's territory as if it was the territory of the United States. So it's probably not wise to throw these threats around."

Hours after the signing, Russia's Foreign Ministry warned that Moscow's response would go beyond diplomacy. The system to be based in Poland lacks "any target other than Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles," it said in a statement, contending the U.S. system "will be broadened and modernized."

"In this case Russia will be forced to react, and not only through diplomatic" channels, it said without elaborating.

slvemike4u. Retarded and incompetant is a fair assessment of Bush's foreign policy. He can't even manage to appoint a decent spokeman, once again on TV news here we have had a Bush mouth piece discussing missiles in Poland who comes across as smug and arrogant and a young Russian who comes across as intelligent and perceptive. The Bush might want to enter a new cold war but his opponent is not the old USSR he thinks it is. The US is looking the decidedly aggressive party from here, no matter how European governments desperately try to convince their public otherwise.

As for fair and balanced, I reckon you need some balance in your views. You accuse Russia of naked aggression for protecting its citizens but you can't find it in you to admit that the US invasion of a sovereign nation that was no threat to the USA (but had sacred oil of course) was naked aggression.

You know I'm damn well right which is why you come back with a reply like that.

Let's hope the Czechs see sense and veto the radar the system needs for guidance.  They split from Slovakia, where the nationalism runs as high as in the Polish boondocks, so they don't have the internal problems Poland has in terms of forming consistent policy.

How can you possibly know its not your heavy biases coloring your judgment.

Because that was a fact.

If Bush doesn't want his spokesmen to come across as smug and arrogant he should choose one that can answer pertinent questions instead of having the attitude that America is always right and everyone else is wrong.

The Bush administration still hasn't learnt from when it said, if you aren't for us you are against us.

For a look at the way things are being broadcast elsewhere.

If you are suggesting I should watch Fox news, don't make me laugh, Fox doesn't even pretend to be news.

RealityLicks -> RE: Russian responsoe to potential US missle sites in Poland (8/20/2008 4:58:36 PM)

Fox "News"
[sm=rofl.gif]

Now I've heard it all.

No Meatcleaver once again you mistake your opinion for fact. Now if we look at your bold face type ,I will break it down for you...The facts would be this part(if in fact they are true, but I will give you the benifit of doubt)an American represenitive spoke on TV concerning the missile systems earmarked for poland, a Russian represenative presented a counterpoint argument....end of FACT.The rest ,added by you is little more than opinion...and it was thus...American represenative was a mouth piece who came across as smug and arrogant....followed by a young Russian who in YOUR opinion came across as intelligent and perceptive..notice all of that is opinion...but you insist on labeling them as fact....is it a language problem or do you think us too stupid to seperate your opinion from FACT

Meatcleaver...it doesnt matter if the people of Poland want it or not....It's a done deal now... And Condi Rice shot down the Kremlin's threats and is not moving her ground....

"It's also the case that when you threaten Poland, you perhaps forget that it is not 1988," Rice said. caitlyn -> RE: Russian responsoe to potential US missle sites in Poland (8/20/2008 9:22:31 PM)

Which begs the question ... why do we have these treaties with Poland in the first place?

Powerful nations should never become involved in alliances ... with anyone. There is nothing to gain, and much to risk.

Powerful nations entering into alliances with weaker nations, has killed more people than small pox.

And who anointed you the arbiter of fairness and credibility on this board?

It matters little if someone`s bias,as long as they can make a convincing argument, right or left.

Why don`t you just argue your points and leave out the judgments and psycho-babble?
