what if this kid now has the responsibility to pay off that $$???how is he going to do it at that kind of job he has??? which he'll likely get fired from ...but still have to pay....

i doubt the company is going to pickup the tab.

The kids don't work the contracts. That fuck up is coming straight out of the owner's pocket. But someone in the business office is going to be looking for a job.

Faery, Awwwwwww, but how many other people has he screwed?
I'll take a ride down there this week circling the parking lot beeping my horn, maybe I can make him cry!
I find it *extremely difficult* to "feel sorry" for car salesmen or women!
He'll just have to be content to make $90k this year instead of $100k.

If memory serves me, you and i have disagreed on a few topics rather vehemently. However, on this topic, I'm right there with you hangin' my head out the window and laughing.

I saw more evidence of the evils of car dealers the day I bought my "replacement" for my first new car. As I was finalizing my paperwork in the business office, a salesman came in and told the guy one of the customer's he'd made initial contact with was walking in. His boss said the next guy could handle it as he already had someone sitting in his office. The salesman then looked back at his boss and said "yes, but I can give him to someone else, because the guy walking in the door actually has MONEY."

I ENJOY tormenting car salesman. They are all jerks. Well, ok, not "all" there are good ones. In fact when I bought my Honda in '06, I met a GREAT one. Hell of a deal, no bullshit, went to bat with me on a minor "quirk" in my history, etc. I recommended him to EVERYONE I met searching for a new car.

But MOST salesmen are jackasses who got into the business for ONE reason and that is NOT taking care of the customer.

Smith, that $34,900 was the final selling price.
Add $300 for maximum sales tax in S.C. (That's the max we pay on any car in this state!)
and $99 for plates and paperwork.
So, they applied that $10,200 for my trade in to that and it took it down to $25,000!
That's all I owe on a brandnew Caddy STS 2008.
And now, they owe $4,848 on my Mercury that's sitting in the lot!
The "Finance Manager" did the paperwork I guess.
It was a friday aft and I saw the sales kid at the cashier's window and they were counting out $1,200 in $100 bills for him.
His "commission" I assume.
And I have real good credit so they gave me 4.9% GMAC financing.
It has a 4.6 liter 8 cylinder engine with 320 horse power and it's rated at 15 city 24 highway but a neighbor says he gets 18-19 around here and almost 27 on the highway with his which is a 2006.

Fuuuuuuuuuck. Someone's DEFINITELY getting canned over that. Have you answered their calls yet? I'd suggest calling a lawyer first. Then if they want to go back on the deal, just refer them to your lawyer and say "a deal's a deal."

Noticed that hey?

Every time I drive down to Clarksdale to play some music, I drive past Tunica... center of abject poverty, with an El Dorado like horizon of sparkling buildings hosting all you can eat lobster buffets, big name entertainment, and 'The biggest payouts of ANYONE!!!!'...

Jeffff -> RE: Car Price Question (8/18/2008 7:17:25 PM)

We needs a finance guy here...lol............... GMAC financing works on the rule of7/8ths. Is you got it at 4.9

what is called the "buy rate" was less count in it. Maybe just a point but it was less. The dealer  gets GMAC to

buy the deal at a certain rate. Then they add a point or two on.

Smith, fuck em!
The best time to buy a car is on a friday afternoon at 4 or 5 pm when they all want to get out of there and hit the bar.
I've read the contract over 5 times and it does nothing but obligate the buyer!
So, when I signed it I became liable to the terms and conditions , "with no recourse."
I *have* to abide by those terms now! lol!
They wouldn't let ME change the contract after I signed it, would they?

is this a trick question? My guess is, if the dealer is charging 40 grand for a 350 V8 that gets five miles per gallon, then the manufacturer sold it to them for 65 thousand and theyre now taking a loss. But lets say its a 40 MPG 4 cylander for 40 grand, it cost the dealer 20 grand and theres a wating list of 12 months and whover has the cash takes the prize!!

Sophia, but who wants to drive a little fuckin' *Weenie* car that gets 40 mpg?
Al Gore?
He just bought a 100 ' long yacht with all the tens of millions he made selling books and movie tickets to all the suckers and schmucks who believe his tripe about "global warming."
It's much more fun to drive a big bad Cadillac with 320 horses under the hood and that does everything but blow you inside!
Man, my "carbon footprint" just got a lot bigger!
And now I can smoke a big cigar while I'm driving and if anyone gives me any shit about my milage I can say; "Shut the fuck up you!"
"You give me any shit and I'll get my cousin Vito after you!"

Hey, maybe I should stop going to the gym and put on some weight so that I "look" the part!
"Get out of my way you fresh prick kids!"

Loving it, Popeye.  Treat those a**holes like they were wearing their pants halfway down their butts!

Were they counting out the cash, before or after your deal?  Might have been his termination pay.

Oh buddy, you don't know how &#*@'n annoying it is to hear that. What country do you think Hawai`i is part of anyhow? It's been a state for almost 50 years! I hear this all the time at work from mainland tourists..."will this go back to my doctor in the states?" If it weren't for expectations from my employer, I'd be asking them what f*cking country they think they're in.

Sorry to jack the thread. [:)]

Heritic, that was before I signed the contract!
They must have a "draw", the lady had a big manila envelope with lots of cash in it!
I walked up behind him and leaned on the counter and watched her count it out.
Neither of them said anything.
Everyone's in a hurry to leave work on friday aft at 4 or 5, nice time to buy a car![:D]

housesub4you -> RE: Car Price Question (8/19/2008 5:49:10 AM)

popeye;

What in the hell are you doing buying an American car?  Do you know how expensive it is to hire all those people, and to re-open an auto plant just to build 1 car?

The contract says that "there is no cooling off period" and they checked the box on the bottom that says "Issued with No Recourse."
So, looks like I'm stuck with this great contract that they fucked themselves on!
I signed the contract and by the time I got home there were 3 messages on the phone for me from the dealorship! lol
The same thing today.
Man! They fucked up bigtime but, a contract is a contract!
If *I* wanted to change it I have, "No Recourse."
Someone wasn't paying attention!

It may well be that the dealer got themselves into a contract that they don't like but don't think for a minute that they have no recourse. They can simply choose to ignore the contract, not sell you the car, and wait for you to sue them for breach of contract. My guess is that they have an attorney on retainer to protect them from this sort of thing while you will have to pay yours out of pocket. Not such a great deal for either side so expect them to continue to try and negotiate with you.

If you insist on standing your ground based on your reading of the contract it’s possible that you'll never see that vehicle in your driveway.

On the other hand. They might cave. Good luck.

I hear this all the time at work from mainland tourists..."will this go back to my doctor in the states?" If it weren't for expectations from my employer, I'd be asking them what f*cking country they think they're in.

Actually, I know exactly how annoying it is to hear that. It's roughly as annoying as living in Hawaii for 3 and a half years and hearing nothing but "the evil US took over our homeland" and "end the illegal US occupation" and "go home hoale."

You see, when I first got to Hawaii, I though "Wow...paradise, finally. This makes taht year I spent on that speck called guam so worth it. I must have lucked out to get this assignment."

Roughly a month later, that began to change. The culmination of this was when I stopped at a 7/11...... a SEVEN ELEVEN......a NATIONAL chain and was told "we don't have a bathroom you can use." Bullshit! There is nowhere else I have ever been in this country where SEVEN ELEVEN.....a NATIONAL chain....had no bathroom. Yet because I was white, I wasn't allowed to use it.

So yes, I call the states, the states and I call Hawaii, Hawaii. When I get corrected, or when someone, as you put it, asked me what counry I thought I was in....my reply was always "well, I thought originally I was in the US, but my experience here has shown me differently. You want to be the 'US?' Then ACT LIKE IT.

Part of my job while there was to scour the local papers for news about my service/base. There wasn't a DAY that went by I didn't read some letter to the editor talking about the evil US and how we should go home and give Hawaii back to its people.

Let me end my thread-jack reply with this:
King Kamehameha is CELEBRATED for "uniting" the islands; despite the fact that one of the great battles of his "unification" was pushing the opposing army off the Pali Lookout to their deaths.

The US made a DEAL with the Princess to make Hawaii a state, killed NO ONE, and yet we're the big, bad, evil US.

My time in Hawaii is largely responsible for my disillusionment with all the "America haters." That's where I learned that the US will be damned if we do and damned if we don't and the ones who hate us will hate us.

I left Hawaii thinking to myself "Yes, we should give Hawaii back. We should leave those islands. And with us, we should take every highway, every street sign, every single remnant on that island paid for by US tax dollars. Let 'em go back to canoes and coconuts and be vulnerable to whichever country wants to take them over next."

So yes, I know how annoying it is to hear "back in the states." It's roughly as annoying as it was for me listening to the "locals" while I was there.

---------We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.---------
