Calla Firestorm ALL jobs are service-oriented jobs if you want them to be, or Dominant jobs, if you want them to be. For example, all jobs serve a end-user, client, customer. All jobs require a person to be in charge of their tasks, areas, time management, etc. It is all in the focus one brings to their job that makes them service or control oriented. The orientation of the person determines the orientation of the job, in my opinion. Once when I was unemployed I took a job as a waitress at a local Waffle House (those of you in the southern U.S. know this requires more than just serving food) and frankly I took the job to the highest level I could. I used my skills in sales and marketing to encourage people to sit in my station, to order more expensive items, and gave such exceptional service that I was once tipped by a party in another girl's station just because I kept their coffee filled while she ignored them. It was hard physical work, paid for shit, even with tips was not enough to pay my bills and at best kept the lights on and food in the fridge and nothing more. Thankfully, after 6 weeks I was hired by a company more in tune with my skills and background that paid what I needed to earn.

I am very service oriented but I need to give service to a person or group of people that I legitamately care about or for. Personal service to Master is fulfilling because I am meeting needs for him and I love him and have an intimate relationship with him. Service that I offer to our local club is fulfilling because I am passionate about the group and our mission and feel passionate about our common goals. To preform service, as a job, would be just that a Job... at least for me. It is on an entirely different level in my mind. Maggi

i am extremely service oriented, though the dominants that i belonged to didn't need and/or want me to serve them in some of the ways that i enjoy immensely, so, i did get a job in the service industry and have been in the service industry for years and years now. while i do hold onto a masters degree in english and bachelors degree in physical education, the actual jobs that i can get and have had using those two degrees don't fullfill my needs, so for me, the amount of money they are willing to pay me in exchange for me not getting my needs fullfilled isn't worth the trade off. i think i basically went back to school and got the degrees so others wouldn't question my intelligence because i'm 'just a waitress/housekeeper/nanny/etc.' on the other hand, and while i know that most people who responded on here say something to the contrary, being in the service industry does pay me quite well, or should i say, at least $10-$20 per hour and which will be going up at the years end. my clients have no problem whatsoever paying the difference because as the cost of living increases, so do my fees. now i also know a lot of people on here also responded that they don't feel the work to be as rewarding when they do it for strangers, as when they would do it for their owners, but i find that also to be contrary to how it is with me. the people i work for actually leave me little love letters of a sort, letting me know how much they appreciate me and everything i do for them. so while the rest of the world is working for someone else, working the hours that they are told to work, same as the days, and being 'stuck' when it comes to scheduling doctors appointments, getting sick days off, taking vacations when they want to, etc., i sit here and tell my clients when i will be working, how much they will pay me, when i'm taking off, and that my life and my teenagers life will always take presidence over them and their needs, and they're all okay with that as well. i couldn't be happier!

Stripper, lol, that would depend on who you are and where you work. When i was a stripper, some of the girls "serviced" their clients, and did make a pretty good living. My clients definitely got fucked but the NEVER got laid. What did i get out of it, a house, several cars, lots of shopping, you name it. As long as they kept hoping they were going to get something, they kept right on spending that way too. Bike mechanic, lmmfao, a service job? Maybe if you work for a dealership. The folks whose dirt rides i redid or whose HDs i restored came to me because i was damn good at. I was not nice about, and truly was often a bitch, i could have cared less about the bike owners or how they felt or if they even liked my work or my suggestions. If they did not want to let me do it the right way for the bike involved, they could take their shit elsewhere, period. But i love, love, love, doing this for the bikes. The look so awesome when they are done. Kind of a zen thing for me.

I doubt I could ever be accused of submissive so I'm not even going to pretend to speak from a 'why don't they' mindset. I'll stick with my own thoughts from the other side of the fence. Being able to do for myself is a big deal to me. I like knowing I can lug heavy things, get the chores done, run the errands and still keep two companies humming along happily. For me to accept a service slave is a huge deal and not a place filled by anyone. It's personal for me to give them a place to do the things I do for myself. They honor me with their service and care, they do it for me, not just to feed their own desires. I see it as their service being almost like my knight in feather duster armor. They are placing themselves between clutter, chaos and difficulties and me. It's humbling for me to accept their service and makes me feel warm and special to be taken care of. It's a tremendous gift. If any service slave could be so easily satisfied by selling shoes or whatever other analogy is used, it would belittle what is offered to me. This isn't to say that a good massage therapist shouldn't find joy in knowing that their touch makes a difference, just that it should fulfill personal pride in skill and a job well done. For me, it isn't 'he has a desire to service' which is peachy and fine and the peace corps is always hiring....for me it's he has a desire to serve ME.

As a service sub I could not agree more. I make my Domme's life easier doing the task's in Her home so She can tend to other issues. She can do everything Herself and has. But once She got to know me, She realized that I was truely seeking to be a service sub and in time allowed me to help Her with some of Her chores. Now I serve Her and Her household with everything from cooking, cleaning, and many many things in between. As for working as a cook or a housekeeper, I would not be able to maintain my standard of living, nor would I have the free time to be a service sub to anyone.
