Lockit, people *pay* into that system for decades so it should be there to help them when they need it!
It shouldn't be an "adversarial" system.
The Veterans Administration can be very cumbersome as well but in that system they always resolve any disputes "in favor of the Veteran", which they should of course always do.
I've seen Veterans in various V.A. Hospitals with horrible wounds and injuries and some that are terribly messed up that you can't see from the outside.
The bottom line is that we need to help our fellow citizens and veterans when they are in need!
It really galls me to see people in shelters while *our congress* sends $34.6B overseas in "foreign aid" that the lawyers and lobbyists in Washington make billions of dollars from!
Everyone on this site should be calling their congressmen and senators and telling them to *END* all those "foreign aid" programs!
They're nothing but SCAMS!
There's too many people in Washington making enourmous sums of money from them!

It shouldn't be adversarial popeye, but it sure turned out that way. I'm really glad that it turned out well in this case.
Personally I've given up the fight, the inaccurate records and other crap became an insurmountable wall for me.

The state sent me to a shrink who spent 20 minutes asking about my brothers and how they abused me when I was a kid.
I have no brothers..
Some records show me as left handed, others as the correct right handedness. Just so much crap.

What I don't understand is how so many get the help when actually bullshitting the system, how the hell do they know the ins and outs?

Lockit I havent been on the site in a while and just read the results. So many people have to fight hard when the proof is even in the right hands.

I am on disability myself for mental reasons, and God was looking out for me at the time, I dont know how I did it or anything but I got my approval within six months, no fighting an appeal, I just cant imagine going though an all out fight for what was due. The condition I was in I would have probably shevled it. I think Im the only person I know that has applied or got disability that didnt have to fight for ages. It was my miracle.

It should be that way for everyone in my opinion.
Sadly 99.99% of the time it doesnt.
God bless your lucky day, perhaps the lady with the advice was a bit of an angel, sounds like she provided helpful hints for the system.

Note to camilla:  Mental is hard to get through especially, would be glad to share with how I got through it.  It generally very had to prove with actually medical evidence. Msg me on the other side and maybe I can give you a few hints on how to get through, I just know it worked for me, I was disabled for depression, severe anxiety disorder and agoraphobia brought on by the 1st two.

Glad to hear I was being too pessimistic, Lockit.   I'll be sending good thoughts your way.

Congratulations, Lockit!  There was really no other acceptable way but approval.  Everytime you go to the doctor with him keep records and occassional ask for a written evaluation.  Even with a brain injury or the like, it will be reviewed every 3-10 years.  Again, I am glad it went your way without further delay.

Congrats!!!!  I have been on US disability since I was 19 and next week I will be 45. I had 2 seven year reveiws. #1. A woman came to the house. #2. Paperwork for me to fill out and return. My condition is one with no treatment and will not ever significantly improve. After those first two reveiws I never had another review again to this date.

What a fantastic day and result for you and your son - I am so happy for you!  I read your last post about your computer and your data with such dread.  Thanks for sharing the great outcome, and kudos to you for fighting for your son.  He's lucky to have you.

No, it shouldn't be, but it often is.  My mom had the worst time getting approval for disability - she has a heart condition which keeps her out of breath most of the time.  She can't walk one city block without having to stop and gasp for air.  Yet the hoops we've been through to get her approved is ridiculous - even with her cardiologist stating unequivocally that she couldn't work.
