Status: offline 		Well in general females tend to be for it. Marriage creates a sense of security. So in that a male that is also insecure in his relationship favors marrieage as a form of, you are legally bound to me sort of way.

That being said experience and wisdom tend to teach all of us that some types of security are simply an illusion and only our own efforts in whatever fashion tend to create as much as what we are after.

I reckon the brand I referred to would be those that are inexperienced in life and have issues with security.

It's not an absolute, just something I notice when this subject is brought up.

The marriage thing?..... I think I will pass on that. But I believe in love and   I don't see  love and ownership as necessarily mutually exclusive

Are you saying that marriage is simply a form of insecurity? ... and that all females try to get married in order to entrap their husbands into sticking around?

Personally, I see people who don't get married just so they can dip out easier if something better comes along... as insecure. It's like a small child, clinging on to their favorite toy until they see something shinier.

If you want to get married- great-the human being is complex enough to love someone, and master them at the same time.  If you don't- hey that's fine too, just don't go pointing fingers at everyone else.

It's much more than that.  For example, I am 50 years old.  I will not remarry without a legal agreement that my husband will not go after my home, retirement, other assets, etc.  I don't have a lot and can't afford to lose what I have.  Marriage is legally-binding and it is risky, especially for those of us who are too old to start over again.  There are ways to reduce the risk.  I can have an intimate relationship without having a piece of paper from the state testifying to it.
