It's so easy to find that kind of cut-and-paste on the far-left blogs too, isn't it.  [:'(]

Aww, c'mon.  It is just easier to continuously spout talking points, eventually something will stick. [;)]

Sure, I'm game, but I think you miss my point.  I used to have respect for McCain when he stuck to his ideals.  I would have voted for him over Gore if he had won the nomination.  Now he's realized this is his last shot and he is doing anything and everything to win regardless of whether it compromises his ideals.  I have no respect left for the man.

I'm not really sure what your point was about the oil but I'm happy to contribute if you're starting a charitable foundation to help our struggling oil companies.

I'll get you a link on the abortion issue.

Tell me about the SCOTUS rulings.  I assume you're talking about the democratic SOTUS who is running for POTUS and his SOTUS VPOTUS.  As a registered VOTUS I sure would like to know.

As far as the religious thing, we seem to have two very different situations.  In Obama's case he disavowed someone who made inflammatory remarks.  The same is true for McCain.  Only McCain recanted his own objections out of political expediency when he realized he needed the support of those he criticized.  Hell of a "straight-talker".

And going back to your first point, his opposition to the cuts continued long after the bill was passed so it cannot be passed off as "pork" added to the bill.  Another politically expedient move by a man desperate for his last shot at the presidency.  Oh, excuse me, I mean POTUS.

Look forward to the links.

As for his changes on positions based on rulings, the most recent is the ruling on the DC handgun ban.

Do a check on Barrack and Louis Wolcott.... just sayin.  He has condemned him, then gone back and spoken at rallies for the man, then when folks got suspicious, avoided him again.... it is a revolving door.  I am not even gonna get into the Wright issue, that speaks for itself, and political expediancy...

The best part of this, is I am not supporting McCain.  So bring on the info, just make sure it is based in fact and not on Kos or Huff garbage.

Since we are talking about positions, I figure what the hell, why not include something that has stated positions from the candidate himself...

General reply -

For a quick background on Senator Biden's biography, voting record and campaign contributions go to -

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Joseph_R._Biden%2C_Jr.

He has one glaring problem listed on this page, namely plagiarism.

"Plagiarism"

"Controversy helped derail Biden's candidacy for the U.S. presidency in the 1988 Presidential campaign. He was found to have plagiarized a speech from British Labour Party (UK) leader Neil Kinnock. The plagiarism was considered all the more serious, because it included details of Kinnock's life which were not true in Biden's case. After Biden withdrew from the race, it was learned that he had correctly credited Kinnock on other occasions but failed to do so in an Iowa speech that was recorded and distributed to reporters by aides to Michael Dukakis, the eventual nominee. Dukakis fired the senior aide responsible, but the damage had already been done to Biden."

Hiya V,

I kind of joked about it earlier in this thread... as Obama was accused earlier this year of the same thing. [;)]

Some of his other "problem" areas are his tendency to make remarks that are sometimes seen as insensitive to minorities... Do a search for Biden on Indians..

Vendaval -> RE: It`s Joe Biden (8/23/2008 5:33:22 PM)

Always good to follow the public speaking gaffes.  Thank you for the link above, Thadius.

BTW, I sent you a message on a Norse/Viking festival.  Let me know if it goes through.  CM mail & IM has been hiccuping lately.

Sanity -> RE: It`s Joe Biden (8/23/2008 5:35:28 PM)

OMFG, I'd forgotten about that...

Biden is a MORON

This is the first thing that came up:

I think he has been watching too many episodes of The Simpsons.

"Biden explains Indian-American remarks"

Potential 2008 presidential candidate says statement taken out of context

updated 4:16 p.m. PT, Fri., July. 7, 2006

"WASHINGTON - Facing criticism, potential 2008 presidential candidate Joe Biden has been forced to explain his recent remark that "you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent."

On a recent edition of the C-SPAN series "Road to the White House," the Delaware senator is shown shaking hands with a man and boasting about his support among Indian-Americans.

"I've had a great relationship. In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian-Americans moving from India. You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking," Biden said."

I'm sorry, maybe you misunderstood.  I offered a link on the abortion issue, which I still will get to you, I didn't offer a link on every point I made.  Every other point has been widely documented from the New York Times to Fox News.  It doesn't take much to verify but I'm not going to waste my time documenting what you've either chosen to ignore or because you don't read  newspapers or view any other media source.  Since you're on the computer anyway.............................why not educate yourself?

Haven't gotten it yet.  If I don't receive it by tonight I will give you my private email to send the link to.

Just out of curiousity, does anybody remember what happened to Obama's original opponent for the US Senate seat he is now in?  [;)]

Don't even know what you mean.

Oh I was hoping that it was more than one link on the abortion issue. I still look forward to it.  As most around here will tell ya, I am a junkie for this kind of thing, I enjoy reading as much as possible about each and every one of the candidates.

Oh I think I am pretty up to date on the issues, and do quite a bit of educating myself... Folks even complain a bit because of me researching things, and providing links..... go figure.

By the way I did include a link to something about the positions that Obama has changed on...

Im suprised he didnt pick Clinton, given the volume of support she has. Do any of you think this was a survival move. IE he sees Joe Biden as less of a threat ?

Naw, I think he heard she was going to take out a hit on him if he did. After all, she would do just about anything to get into that office.

Thadius -> RE: It`s Joe Biden (8/23/2008 6:06:40 PM)

Back to Biden for a moment...

How is the whole Iraq debate going to play out?  He voted against the war in '91 but voted for the current war...  Yet another issue Obama is going to lose as a hammering point.

rulemylife -> RE: It`s Joe Biden (8/23/2008 6:16:49 PM)

My cut-and-paste isn't working but I found several links on McCain's flip-flopping on abortion.  I picked the one I thought you would like best.  Direct to you from Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network (so much for the liberal media bias):

Edited to add: I think we should move this part of the discussion to another thread.  Instead of the hijacking of this one.

That's just the it of the Biden iceberg.

He could have picked Ishcabibble for all it really matters.

One only need so the math, in order to be elected Pesident of the United States in the year 2008, one needs to carry the majority of all white voters. Obama won't, ergo he cannot win. Obama's this century's Al Smith,

Thadius -> RE: It`s Joe Biden (8/23/2008 6:23:47 PM)

The thing is, as Pat Cadell stated not to long ago "If you are going to choose somebody that you ran against, why choose the person that came in last, you should choose the person that showed the strongest."

Watch for an ad to come out at 3am eastern tonight, with the following text.

quote:

“She won millions of votes. But isn’t on his ticket. Why?” an announcer says in the 30-second spot.
The answer? “For speaking the truth.”
You never hear the specifics,” Clinton says.
“On the Rezko scandal,” the voice says.
“We still don’t have a lot of answers about Senator Obama,” Clinton says in footage from the primaries.
“Senator Obama’s campaign has become increasingly negative,” Clinton says in another scene.
The announcer closes by saying “The truth hurt. And Obama didn’t like it.”

You keep wanting to make this into an argument over Obama instead of defending McCain.  My post was a response to Sanity claiming McCain hasn't flip-flopped which he clearly has, far more than Obama.  They're both politicians though, which in my book, makes them both scumbags and liars.  McCain's desperation for his last chance just scares me more than Obama's inexperience.  The lesser of two evils.  Makes you proud to be an American, huh?
