Yes, the difficicult bit is realising when you really, really want to have someone, anyone, that this particular one is not for you.
And to have whatever it takes to say to them, "You've a lot of promise; but you're not for me, it may help if you look there .... "
When you know that though they're not 'the one' for you, you could still have had a good iunnings and parted on good terms.
When you can and do do that, then pat yourself on the back and be proud of yourself. Nobody else will notice!
