Powell would be a good choice politically... but ....for me he is too easily hoodwinked, manipulated, and indecisive. I don't believe he would be strong enough to be a good president if something happened to McCain. I don’t base my comments on his military service but his political service and record under Bush. Butch Actually Butch,you`ve hit on something. There`s a very good possibility that 72 y/o McCain might not make it through his 1st term,even less so, his 2nd (if there is one). That means the VP choice for republicans is that much more complicated. In essence,they must pick two presidents.

He's a Harvard educated extremely successful businessman. And he'd make mincemeat out of Bin Biden in a debate! They don't call him "Old Joe" fer nothing. As long as he doesn't pick Pee Wee Herman or someone like that McCain will be fine. It's not like he's running against Hillary Clinton. Obama has a very sparse past experience-wise and being so far to the left is easily beatable. They said on the news tonight that 27% of Hillary Clinton's supporters won't be voting for him. This will be a cake walk for McCain!

By all reports, not counting the physical disabilities as a result of his POW injuries, McCain is in at least as good health as Obama. Remember, Obama was (is?) a smoker. No telling how many years he's puffed off the end of his life. The phrase "heartbeat away from the Presidency" applies to both parties.
