I live in the country 30 miles NE of Louisville Ky. Just up the road from me, an hours drive or so, is the creationists museum called "Answers in Genesis." Some frineds and I went up last year in early July. It was a scary place folks. Slick marketing, neat looking displays, disney like films and effects. And the other people walking around in support of all this? Well, they looked normal.

The things they were passing off as truth were just incredible. The myopic are rather easy to dupe however and as far as I know they place is still going strong.

There is an interesting webiste I found several years ago run by a group called the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Address is www.ffrf either .com or .org, I can't remember which. It might be worth a look see to some of you.

That's ffrf.org and is very much worth a read.

As to the AiG musuem it better be slick considering that they spent $27 million on it and hired the special effects guy from Jaws. However that doesn't change the lies they present as if they were true.

On a related note, there's a Erich Von Danniken museum being built in South America. It will feature several Disney-like rides that will present the patron with "recreations" of how ancient astronauts taught primative man how to plant crops, build stonehenge, and the great pyramids.

Total bullshit, just like creationisim, but they have every right to try and bilk the gullible public with outright lies as much as any other religion. However, without any credible evidence, "Chariots of the Gods" shouldn't be taught in a science classroom any more than "Intelligent Design."

Evidence, evidence, evidence!

Anyone remember Jim and Tammy Faye Baker?  How about Oral Roberts saying that, "God is going to call me home!" if he did not receive more money?  Another that stands out was televangelist Reverend Ike whose message was, "God wants you to be rich, send me your tithes!"

I have seen the anus of humanity. I know it in myself. Religious "leaders" do anything to prove their point, and use any means to prove that they are right and that everyone should join their church, and give.

Some of them shroud their greed, even from themselves. The religious types have always done it.

Not really a hijack IMO Vend, the subject is very closely related. After all the thread is about the indoctrination centers is it not ?

You do have a point there, Term.

Vend, you might look for a book called "The History of Magic" which is an explanation of religious "miracles." The high priests of various religions used fakery to prove themselves to their converts. I hate to say it, but the TV series "Stargate SG-1" had these types of people pegged with the "Priors." It's NOT any stretch at all to see that early judeo-christians were guilty of the same sort of fraud. The staffs into snakes, the changing of water into wine, raising of spirits... all parlor tricks worthy of a man in a tuxedo with doves stuffed up his sleeves.

Without the miracles, you are left with the truth... some good ideas, and some men and women who pushed their folk philosophies onto the rest of us.

I loved watching Rev. Ike.

"The lack of money is the root of all evil"

The diamond rings and cane were just classic.  I wonder if there are any videos of him floating around on the youtube... brb... bah the closest I can find is a recording talking about him.
