She did a good job of taking the edge off, and the kids were adorable, I think they added the most to the presentation.

I agree and I think the first night of the convention was certainly
a success!

She did make me a bit seasick with that bob to the left of the screen, and her hands should have been bound.  I did think the speech was well written and delivered besides that.  Oh, just one more thing, she should have found a dress that fit her better.

Just my thoughts.

One last thing, Teddy looked good and sounded great for his condition.

I've watched most of the speeches since 7pm CST. Barack's half sister was good, although if you thought Barack Obama was a funny name check her name out. Ted Kennedy gave a remarkable speech considering his condition. I was powerfully reminded that his 3 older brothers all died violently and still he serves his country to the best of his ability.

Michelle gave a great speech. Her life story is remarkable in its own right. I thought the satellite chat with Barack was awkward at best.

Now I have seen everything,Thadius gives a fashion critique.Hope Teddy gets to keep his pledge, though from what I have read about his condition it is not likely....a shame really.

lol, me?
I think Michelle nailed it, as usual.
I think she told her story very well, and gave us a glimpse into her life.
I think Ted did a bang up job.
I can't think of how the Democrats could have done a better job tonight!

I agree, the Democrats NEED to do well every single night.

I usually watch both of the conventions.   I just watched Michelle Obama, and I am impressed.  All the negativity about her is saddening.
We need change, and we need to do it with a proper spirit.  We won't get that spirit back if we go backwards.
She delivered one hell of a speach.

Regards, MisSCD

Like I said...I dont bother. Because these speeches are probably not written by the people who give them. They've been edited and proof-read by ever Public Relations and Communications expert the DNC has, and they arnt genuine. They are targetted to pander to specific voting blocs and demographics.

So it's all nice and clean and sounds nice but they dont really say anything.

I know it sounds bad and all but that's how politics works in this country. So I dont get any intellectual stimulation when I listen to these conventions.

popeye1250 -> RE: Okay, WHO besides me will be watching some of the DNC? (8/25/2008 9:17:49 PM)

I didn't see young Patches Kennedy.
He usually "breaks out" every four years or so at these conventions with all the *free booze* that's flowing.
Then he starts "making speeches" and some of Dad's goons escort him from whatever stage he's on and spirit him away from the public.
I think they keep him on a short leash.
I still don't know what Democrats want to do, it was just a dog and pony show.

Popeye please stop with the naked admiration for the Kennedy's it is unseemly coming from a man of your advanced years...Such adulation is more befitting a teenage girl...

corysub -> RE: Okay, WHO besides me will be watching some of the DNC? (8/25/2008 9:28:04 PM)

They should have started the convention on Tuesday.  Monday night is 2 1/2 men night!

If I am going to listen to actors reading scripted lines I would rather get a chuckle from the cute
fat kiid than the old fat politician.  I rather feel some release from the tension of the day than feel
like I am being patronized, bull-shitted too, and being told by Keith Ubarman how we should
have all be brought to tears by heartfelt fireside chats from Teddy and Michelle, a woman who
we are all relieved to hear really loves the country that has given so much to her family.

As Teddy said, Barack will close the book on a lot of things, but he left out that Barack will change
our way of life too!  Teddy mentiones his brother Jack's program to take America to the moon.
He left out, of course, that we did not have to change the way our government controls every part
of our life to land a man on the moon.

Teddy, and Keith Richards both put the lie to our parents... just shows that lives filled with booze and women and (and in Keith's case) drugs, won't lead you to an early death.
Keith's rep doesn't reflect reality, any more than Dean Martin's did.
