~ Fast Reply ~ I've been absolutely riveted. I just can't wait for tomorrow's stadium event. I hear they are using the same computerized fireworks display that they had in Beijing. A Rock Star stage, complete with faux marble columns, for a Rock Star performance unseen before in Denver. Is this true or another Republican caricature? I can't believe this is the image that he thinks will generate the support from the 'average guy' that will be required to get him elected. However, I'm saddened that 'BRUCE!' s participation turned out to be a false rumor. Having seen him at least a dozen times before I'd bet he wouldn't be caught dead performing on such an opulent stage. The 'Stone Pony' only used plywood and saw horses the first time I saw him. quote:
More than 200 spotlights. Twenty 18-wheelers full of equipment. And a crew of hundreds working nearly around the clock to prepare the stage for the Democratic National Convention's grand finale. "The magnitude of this is incomprehensible," said Bruce Crawford, the stadium crew chief overseeing the preparations. Crawford has overseen events at the stadium since it opened in 2001 and has produced concerts and music festivals for 30 years. He said none of that, however, has compared to this week's preparation, with workers for news organizations and stage hands marching up and down while he struggles to protect the $1.5 million field — an intricate blend of synthetic grass and real bluegrass. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-08-27-invesco-obama_N.htm?csp=34 'Smoke & Mirrors' - How appropriate.
