Well you have the keynote at 9:30 eastern by Warner, and Hillary isn't on until 10:30 eastern.  The convention center looks like it has a decent crowd at least from what I have seen on Cspan.  Which channel are you watching? Just so I can hear what is being said.

I'm watching CNN.
It's like last night, pretty boring!
I expected a lot more speakers and maybe an "Issues" talk to get their plan out so that we know what Obama stands for and will do if elected.
Now they're going to have a "unity" speech by Hillary.
They've kind of wasted two days.

Ah okay, yeah I started flipping around after you mentioned it.  Carvell seems pretty well behaved, well at least for him.

We're watching the Dishnetwork live feed.

Wow, great speech by Hillary!
Fuck Obama! Listening to him is like watching paint dry compared to Hillary!
Give Hillary the nomination!

Thadius -> RE: Okay, WHO besides me will be watching some of the DNC? (8/26/2008 8:13:25 PM)

How the hell is she not the nominee or at least the vp nominee.  The video leading up to her speech looked like a presidential ad.  How can Biden compete with that?

Excellent speech, the one thing missing in it was why she is now supporting him, she didn't say anything about character or what changed her mind about his experience.  There is no way they can do away with the roll call vote now, if they do, there will be a split that may not heal.

Just my thoughts,
Thadius

yep watched the speech on my laptop

i still think both parties suck because they all promise things but do not deliver except if they get the pork barrel crap the riders to go along with the bill or whatever

i would myself promise nothing and let there be a vote on everything from everyone in the united states and then it would not be by political parties but individuals

yes i know it would cost a lot but look at what it is costing the citizens of this country by doing it their way

Yeah Popeye while watching this speech, all I could think was what went wrong....she was supposed to be the nominee.Obama better bring it when he goes to Invesco Park...

I thought Hillary's speech was good, and at the same time,
very self serving for the Clinton's.
What I noticed was a bit of eye rolling, by Michelle Obama.
lol
I did not see any love for Hillary coming from Michelle Obama.

OneMoreWaste -> RE: Okay, WHO besides me will be watching some of the DNC? (8/26/2008 8:24:24 PM)

Man, I heard part of the DNC last night, and it was some guy giving at least a half-hour speech about how wonderful Michelle Obama was. Could well be the least useful thing I've ever listened to.

In politics, as in sports you sometimes have to "take one for the team".

I don't think I've ever heard so many references to green collar jobs.

Thadius -> RE: Okay, WHO besides me will be watching some of the DNC? (8/27/2008 12:18:54 PM)

Just curious, how would you feel if you were Biden and had to give your speech directly after Bill tonight?  Talk about being overshadowed, Hillary gave the speech of her life last night, Bill always delivers a good speech, and you have to follow those two acts, to which you are going to be compared.

KatyLied -> RE: Okay, WHO besides me will be watching some of the DNC? (8/27/2008 1:07:40 PM)

I would not want to follow after Clinton.  My adult son asked "do you think he'll bring his sax?"   [:D]

Sounds like the Dems have a laundry gap......

Vendaval -> RE: Okay, WHO besides me will be watching some of the DNC? (8/27/2008 1:30:14 PM)

I think Senator Biden would do better going on as the opening speaker and then introducing former President Clinton.

I've been absolutely riveted.

I just can't wait for tomorrow's stadium event. I hear they are using the same computerized fireworks display that they had in Beijing.

A Rock Star stage, complete with faux marble columns, for a Rock Star performance unseen before in Denver. Is this true or another Republican caricature? I can't believe this is the image that he thinks will generate the support from the 'average guy' that will be required to get him elected.

However, I'm saddened that 'BRUCE!' s participation turned out to be a false rumor. Having seen him at least a dozen times before I'd bet he wouldn't be caught dead performing on such an opulent stage. The 'Stone Pony' only used plywood and saw horses the first time I saw him.

quote:

More than 200 spotlights. Twenty 18-wheelers full of equipment. And a crew of hundreds working nearly around the clock to prepare the stage for the Democratic National Convention's grand finale. "The magnitude of this is incomprehensible," said Bruce Crawford, the stadium crew chief overseeing the preparations.

Crawford has overseen events at the stadium since it opened in 2001 and has produced concerts and music festivals for 30 years. He said none of that, however, has compared to this week's preparation, with workers for news organizations and stage hands marching up and down while he struggles to protect the $1.5 million field — an intricate blend of synthetic grass and real bluegrass. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-08-27-invesco-obama_N.htm?csp=34

'Smoke & Mirrors' - How appropriate.

30 minutes or so until the roll call vote begins... Wonder how long it takes before they cut it off.  I always enjoy this part of the conventions...

And the great state of Thadius pledges 1 vote to none of the above.

It is amusing to watch their attempts to relate to the common man(woman).  I'm caught between rolling my eyes and laughing.

I dig watching it.

I'm really ready for regular season football though.
