If Obama was willing to debate these topics... then why has he declined 10 invites to debates? [8|]

Oh and some of the moves of speeches to keep them off of primetime?

Just sayin..

If Obama is refusing to debate, then who is going to be in Batesville next month?

Thadius -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/28/2008 10:04:19 PM)

He has agreed to do the 3 upcoming debates, but refused 10 offers from different organizations since the end of the primaries.

Links?

I know McCain asked to debate a bunch, in his "town hall meeting" thingys.

Are any of those part of your 10?

They don`t really count as a refusal.

In all seriousness...So?  WTF would 13 debates accomplish...  Final Jeopardy?

I have posted links here in the past... and somehow they always wind up getting moved to the other section to die.  Yes McCain challenged him to 10, but I was referring to those proposed by groups of veterans at Fort Hood.

Hows this for a link... not even from one of those right wing neo con nutjob sites.

CBS has agreed to broadcast the meeting live from 9 to 11 p.m. Eastern time on Monday, Aug. 11. The candidates would face questions directly from an audience of 6,000 people, made up of veterans, service members and military families from the base.

"While we unfortunately had a previously scheduled commitment on the date proposed, Senator Obama looks forward to continuing the dialogue he’s been having throughout the country with veterans on how we can better serve our men and women in uniform as they serve us.”

quote:

“I’m having extreme difficulty getting the Obama campaign to commit to this event, and we do not understand why,” said Ms. Picard, whose husband is deployed in Iraq. “We made it very clear to them that if they would commit to the event, we would work with them on dates.”

We do remember where he was on the 11th don't we?

There are more, but that one should suffice.

Owner59 -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/28/2008 10:23:28 PM)

Thanks Thad.

If I`m not mistaken, this is still at "yet".

He may still go to the event,I hope.

Thadius -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/28/2008 10:25:06 PM)

The event has been cancelled.  Unfortunately.  Obama is only going to do the 2 or 3 (I can't remember if the 1 vp debate is included in the 3) events.

Alumbrado -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/28/2008 10:25:55 PM)

TV entertaiment is TV entertainment... that sort reality based contest format with 'troops and their families' instead of a celebrity panel or  journalist/moderators would no doubt be huge in the ratings, commercial sponsorship, product tie ins, etc...

But having a talent for glib responses on TV isn't exactly something I would find re-assuring, since it is one of the well known hallmarks for psychopathy.

Now can we get back on topic and spank the GOP over their convention?[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m26.gif[/image]

We let you vent allll week.....[&:]

Thadius -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/28/2008 10:31:16 PM)

I will be joining in it with you.  I have given credit where due this week, and made my comments about things that caught my eye.  The same will be true for next week.  Hell I might be doing it tomorrow when the McCain VP is announced.

Vendaval -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/28/2008 10:32:09 PM)

And what drinking game should go with a convention?

Thadius -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/28/2008 10:35:40 PM)

It depends on which convention you are watching, and how drunk you want to get.

Watching the DNC, everytime rich is mentioned you take a drink.

Watching the RNC, everytime taxes are mentioned you take a drink.

Right, and what kind of alcohol is being consumed.

housesub4you -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/29/2008 4:14:58 AM)

Are you crazy???? We'll all die from drinking that much.

Why do you care so much about the Democrats and what they do?

Why, kittin, I have said why a great many times, with great specificity.

I am opposed to Obama, I am opposed to the Democrats.  I consider their policies and ideas to be destructive and dangerous for this country.  I consider them as a party to be inept, inane, and incompetent.

I am opposed to Obama specifically because he lacks the manhood to acknowledge things he has said and what little he has done.  He lacks the maturity and the grace to handle being asked to account for his positions with dignity and even partial honesty.

I am opposed to Obama not because he lies, but because he tells stupid lies--a politician who cannot lie with conviction is a weak politician.

I am opposed to Obama because, with his lack of accomplishment, lack of deeds, lack of character, and lack of new ideas, elective office will forever be considerably above his pay grade.

housesub4you -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/29/2008 4:28:57 AM)

So you think the GOP is doing a Great Job????

Are you saying that McCain has not said  "stupid lies" during his time in public office?

Or are you just choosing to act like video record of McCain saying one thing and voting another does not exist.  Hell just his flip flopping on torture is enough to show how much he has sold his soul .

Bush fucked up invading Iraq.

Both parties are to blame for that monstrosity known as the Patriot Act.

Bush's tax cuts were a hell of an improvement over Clinton's tax increases.

My business will do better with McCain in office than Obama.

So McCain gets my vote.  Without question and without hesitation.

NuminousLeader -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/29/2008 4:45:51 AM)

You must be in the Repo business[;)]

bipolarber -> RE: Bush may not speak at GOP convention?!??? (8/29/2008 5:04:45 AM)

We are talking about a President who went on vacation while Georgia was being invaded... so he's going to "miss" his own parties convention because of a storm? Well, maybe... of course, if I recall, during Katrina, he was having a state dinner.

No, I think the real reason he won't be "speechificatin'"  at "Fascist Fest" is because they, like 80% of all the American people, would be looking on him as a turd in the punchbowl.
