hey Dnomyar, I really find this an interesting subject so I appreciate your perspective as (presumably) an older gentlemen than I.
...to clarify of course I certainly would not advocate this theory is applicable in the real world, or at least to the degree we can observe it occurring in this medium. As a general rule subtlety is observed to a higher degree in the real world. Although one might argue, low slung tops on ladies, and/or tight jeans/trousers on lady or gentlemen is just an extension of this. But clearly the degree to which this occurs is different for real life and the internet, as the likelihood of being in a situation with various males shirtless, holding their penis etc.jumping around or otherwise trying to attract someone in this manner is questionable. Well at least in the experience of the places I have visited...again I may be showing my age and inexperience with this point. The perceived anonymity of the internet, whether real or not, exaggerates these tendencies I believe.
As for a man in your age group having a six pack, I would have to agree that the dynamic of marketing ones self would likely shift and change with age; and/or, as you stated, with the demographic of the lady in question.
At what age does a refined torso and/or abs stop being desirable? I could not say.
I am curious as to whether people stay within their broad age groups or stray; or even take things on a case by case basis. Certainly for the profiles I have perused, age limits of some sort abound...however I might be looking at the wrong people, and therefore it is potentially difficult to come to a representative conclusion.
I do maintain that we all market our comparative advantages, just what comparative advantage is successful in making the consumer buy into you (at least initially) is dependent on the consumers taste, preference (perhaps changing with age); and the presence, quantity, and quality of competition.
As in this case, the naked abs/torso, as the testimony of various lady posters suggests, there is no all conquering silver bullet.
Having said all this, with experience of just ≤24 years, an all encompassing explanation taking into account age and various demographics is certainly beyond me!
