Oh and as for recession and strikes in the 70s, yes there was the oil crisis that was no fault of the Tory government but the introduction of decimalisation caused inflationary pressures as did the bungled negotiations to join the EEC at any cost. Yes, I agreed with joining the EEC but badly handled negotiations has nothing to do with the desirable need to join.
