chickpea -> T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/29/2008 5:40:10 PM)

Basically, THROUGH THE ROOF!

It beat the

(1) Opening Ceremonies of the Bejing Olympics
(2) The Biggest Finale of American Idol

Obama's T.V. Speech sets a NEW T.V. Record reaching OVER 1/4 of AMERICAN HOUSEHOLDS AT THAT TIME SLOT.

I wonder what the GOP will be able to pull next week...

Sanity -> RE: T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/29/2008 5:51:49 PM)

So millions heard him first totally trash McCain, then turn around in the same speech only a few minutes later and claim that he's going to fix politics.

Nice.

I wonder where they get the number to "prove" that more people watched the DNC than the Olympics. Is it just here in the U.S.? Also, that's 38 million, not including PBS (which I was one of the few who watched it there).

Leatherist -> RE: T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/29/2008 6:22:07 PM)

He's going to have to do better than make fancy speeches soon.

Mcain is not stupid, he will rip obama's guts out during the election if he doesn;t wise up,and move towards practical solutions-something he has totally failed to do to date.

WHAT "changes?"

Thadius -> RE: T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/29/2008 6:28:12 PM)

Many of us watched to see if he was going to mention specifics, and to see what he was going to do on the mountain a mile high.

I hope you are not suggesting that these numbers reflect how many folks are supporting the man.

corysub -> RE: T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/29/2008 7:42:11 PM)

If it's true that 38 million people viewed Obama's speech, and other than me, 37,999,999 voted for him, he would
lose in a landslide.  All joking aside, I think there is a distinct possibility that when people get into that booth and
vote there conscience, many of the Obamaholics will switch and vote for the U.S.A. continuing as the beacon
of the free market, capitalist system...and vote down socialism and Big Brother taking more control over our lives.

I definitely intend to vote for the candidate who is on record opposed to big brother stuff like USA PATRIOT, sodomy laws, laws establishing a discriminated class and socialist stuff like government supporting corporations with my tax money. IOW I'll be voting for Obama.

I do agree that McCain has failed to  move towards any practical solutions; frankly though, I think he is stupid, it is unclear from your diatribe, but I am willing to concede that we disagree on something.

(and as a first level of support, you should prolly spell the cocksuckers name kinda a little bit closer to what it is, such that you have the appearance of a grasp of the issues and are not some sort of sock  puppet, or outright dumbass)

I`m voting For the capture of bin-laden and against the cons.

I`m voting For America.

The choice is easy.

Celeres -> RE: T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/29/2008 11:43:05 PM)

Haha, it's true not all 38 million voters, (plus those who watched it on PBS) will vote for the man, as I for one will be watching the GOP this coming week. But after it's all said and done, I'm pretty sure the ratings are trying to prove that there is more "interest" in politics than in years' past.

Don't know what country you have been watching but you have captured the last 8 years here. It would take near a geniuos to be worse than Bush and these neocons.

We have no free market...and most of the socialism in America is for the capitalist.

But hey...we have you corysub who presumably gets up early in the morning to go to work and pay your fair share in taxes to help bail out the billionaires.

The numbers reflect how many people extrapolated from their surveys, are to be reasonbly believed as having viewed his speech as in ratings for any show.

As I have suggested...Obama is in real danger of being a Reagan who won two landslides from being a celebrity with no real substance in his message.

Most presidents get about 40+ million popular votes anyway.

sub4hire -> RE: T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/30/2008 7:02:36 AM)

I watched the convention.  As much as I could anyway.  I watched Obama's speech.  Not because I am supporting him but because I wanted to learn something I didn't know about him already.  So, it could help me come November in voting for anyone.
Basically I learned nothing new about the man.  I was disappointed.  It was more of the same hot air to get people riled up.

I will be watching McCains speech as well doing the same thing.  Hoping to learn more.  Only time will tell.  I do hope it isn't the same hot air I've heard from him and something new comes up.

MissSCD -> RE: T.V. Ratings for Obama's Speech (8/30/2008 7:10:23 AM)

Since when did McCain make a fancy speech compared to Barack's acceptance speech?
Hillary Clinton can make a fancy speach.
Joe Biden can make a fancy speach.
McCain picks a woman to be VP, and she is against the right to choose for women.
Smart?
He reminds me so much of Richard Nixon so much that it is not  funny.
The only thing McCain can do in his 26 years of service to the senate is vote for George Bush 90 percent of the time.

Regards, MissSCD

Not all women are anti-life.

And if McCain is so reminiscent of Richard Nixon, why did all the Libs dig him so much in 2000. [sm=hippie.gif]

Since I was asking the person who said it, and not you, I wonder... can you read his mind?

It's our way of flirting with each other, Evility... she only wants me to answer her here. [8D]

Anti-life, kitten, is the exact opposite of anti-choice.
