blueskyboy -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/1/2008 7:03:10 AM)

yep redgoddess...think you are on to something here of interest ...when one feels empowered in the world outside of the bedroom say... is it more likely that they would be able to submit?...and does it follow that those that feel weak in the push and shove of the daily grind...like to take some control of the intimate and most personal part of their lives? - you know the bump and grind...know we are thinking in huge generals here...(hmmm...wonder if the five star is more or less likely than the captain) so please don't jump with both feet...just wondering, musing...scratching just below the veneer...peeling back the vinyl....this means nothing...know certainly that we should be wary of sterotyping...
but is there something too this?...know this forum and the world to be a delicious soup made with lots of different ingredients...just musing on the broth...just a soup question really...:  [;)]

I'm just as capable of dominating my boy in a tanktop and undies as I am in a catsuit... (snip) I guess I'd be considered unlikely just because I don't think there's many Aspie Dommes out there.  I've been told in the past that being terrified of phone conversations and near inability to make eye contact is not very "dommelike" behavior.

stella41b:
From what I can gather a woman being dominant is part of her inner nature, not a fashion statement.

LadyHibiscus:
Believe me, the fetish wear industry, and several custom corsetmakers, made some house payments from my purchases!  I love to play dress up -- but it's just dress up.  The clothes don't make the dominant, thank goodness.  (snip to next post)  A sub who sees me come into the room in one of my short nightgowns with nothing underneath is going to have a way better time than the one who sees me dressed to the nines in the Catherine Coatney gear.  Just sayin'.

These three women have said all that I would have on the issue.

Elan.

I haven't got any costumes nor do I think I fit any of the descriptions given. I'm just me, doing my thing. You will never catch me, knowingly putting anything vinyl, on any part of my body. Ick, eww, yuck, no way.

I gave up worrying whether I fit anyone's preconceived ideas a long time ago. It's a waste of time and energy. The last time I had a submissive staying at my house I believe I spent most of the time in shorts, flip flops and a tshirt. Or a cotton jersy dress. It was hot and I was going for comfort.

My interests are too varied to say I am a geek or anything else I can imagine. I am very comfortable with people socially, it's just that my preference is to stay away from most of them. It's not that I am uneasy or awkward around people, I just don't like most of them. Why waste time doing something I don't like?

Soooooo, I guess the aloof might work for some social situations. I've always thought it was more of an "I am really working hard to try and pretend I am not bored out of my skull and would prefer being at home." persona. I just don't like shallow chitchat.

sassylady53 -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/2/2008 4:21:06 PM)

Me, I am a pint sized Domme at only four foot ten. Sorry, no heels. They don't make them in a children's size one
and a half, unless I have them special made. I am not paying sixty dollars or more for a pair of shoes.
My only leather is a leather cuff with a Celtic design on it that I bought at Irish Fest in Milwaukee.
I offen end up toping topless cause, hay, I get heated up in moer then one way. I am a rebelious brat anyway who
likes doing things her own way.

Lockit -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/2/2008 4:35:12 PM)

I am small too... have always had a rough time finding sexy stuff.  Winne the pooh section doesn't have much variety, but where there is a will and enough money, there is a way.  But I am dominant in anything... and if someone needs me to dress the fantasy part all the time... bye bye

LaT, we have more in common then I previously thought.
I have zero fetish wear!
I do plan on getting a few corsets, but please let me stay a very

"unlikely domme"!

MotleyMayhem -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/4/2008 9:04:59 AM)

To gleefully misquote Terry Pratchett - "It's not what a domme looks like - it's what a domme BE."

Yes, I like my gear. Yes, I like dressing to the nines on occasion, and also redefining what "dressing to the nines" means for me.  But frankly, the day I need a costume to feel worthy or capable of handling authority or power over someone is the day I hang up my toybag - because there's something missing in me that I have to have in order to run a scene or a person competently.

yourMissTress -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/4/2008 1:41:13 PM)

I do not own a corset.  I don't care for clothing that is restrictive (for me) at all.  I can't imagine playing in anything so restricting.   I did at one time have tons of fetishwear, only because there was a man in my life who loved to make it for me.  I still have a few pieces that hang sorrowfully in my closet wishing I would take them out and put them on. I gave most of them away because they don't fit me anymore (I've lost more than 80 lbs. since that time.  The only time I wear the few skirts that I still can wear, is when I attend The Mark, because fetish wear is required.   When playing I prefer to wear as little as possible, I love the skin to skin contact, and will usually strip down to my panties and whatever blouse I am wearing if playing in public.

I do, however, have a boot fetish.  I love boots!  They are the only articles of clothing I own that are leather or vinyl.  And I can't even imagine putting on something latex...except maybe a pair of gloves. <WEG>

meandmymistress -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/7/2008 1:47:06 PM)

I guess you could call me the unlikely domme...Mistress as I like being called.  I'm kind of a plain jane in the real world...not too confident but when I'm in my Mistress role, the dominant and powerful side comes out...the true Leo side that loves to be the centre of attention...probably why I'm turned on by all this S&M play...I'm in control and my slave sees and wants only me...weird, I suppose.

MadameMarque -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/7/2008 4:26:34 PM)

I like expressive clothes...smartly tailored clothes that cover and accent your body at the same time, Edwardian and Victoriana, sexy clothes that flaunt your body elegantly or savagely, velvet, fur, lace, leather, jewelry, heels, fancy lingerie, corsets, garters,...they suit my aesthetic.  So who am I?  Likely Domme?

I'm very much a nerd, a downright geek.  I also possess about as much grace as an elephant on roller skates.  I giggle and have 'duh' moments like you wouldn't believe.  Even if I could wear the stiletto high heel boots, I wouldn't be able to walk in them, much less take command of a 'scene' without falling flat on my face.  I am very much the unlikely Domme, if one were to gauge this by outer appearances!
quote:

Hahaha! You sound like me! I can't do stilettos at all and I'm not one of those "sex as a weapon" type dommes. I was at dinner a few nights ago interviewing a potential new play mate and there I was in a frilly pink dress giggling non-stop dropping food everywhere.

pagankinktress -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/7/2008 8:12:48 PM)

Unlikely domme? Hmmm...I suppose I can see what the OP is asking, but what is and is not "likely" is a matter of perception, I believe.

Me, in my professional and non-kink life-well, I present as a "nice, helpful girl"--always have.  So in that sense, I can imagine that what I crave and thrive on in a sexual and relational way would not be expected, if we go by societal perceptions of what it means to be a "nice girl".  I'm a pretty dynamic, energetic and creative person in all aspects of my identity and those elements carry over into the D/s realm.  Hell, I'm still that "nice, considerate" girl even when I'm encouraging my playmate to do nasty, filthy things for my amusement. I'm all about saying "please"...so that makes me nice and unlikely, right? [:D]

KinkyArtemis -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/7/2008 9:04:52 PM)

MMarque -

Could not have said it any better myself.  I own fetish wear, I love it, and I would buy a new piece a week if I could.  I'm also a larger woman and one of the reasons I continue to engage in fetish dressing is in part simply to defeat the notion that BBW Dommes cannot wear it and/or that we look crappy in it.  Do I have to hunt for most of it in a size and style that flatters?  You betcha.  Does it take more time out of my day/week than throwing on jeans and a T-shirt and picking up my playbag?  Damn skippy.  Is it the "hot Domme of my dreams" played-out stereotype?  To a certain degree, yes.  But I simply don't care.  I love to dress to impress, always have, always will.  If some want to read me as a pretentious "likely" Domme as a result of it, so be it.  But I won't give it up and I also won't accept the notion that enjoying my love for fetish means that I'm catering to the whims of men.

MAMandSlave -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/7/2008 9:44:03 PM)

I have to say, having watched my girl who is a switch, there is something really sexy about a girl dressed as alice in wonderland sadistically topping a groveling man.....who needs latex or leather...

djaleksandr -> RE: the unlikely domme... (9/7/2008 11:44:45 PM)

Sometimes I dress up, sometimes I don't. My favorite thing to dress up in is a suit, actually (my favorite thing to wear in GENERAL is a suit!). Long sleeve button down, blazer, pants, boots, tie. Though sometimes I'm down for more "feminine" gear, I tend to like the suit factor.
