Maybe you haven't heard about it before because worse things are posted here on the forums on a regular basis?

Olbermann's show aired July 17, and even the Democrats ignored it.

That alone says it all.

The thinks the economy is fine.
He thinks earning $5 million a year is "middle class"
He thinks Iraq and Pakistan share a border.
He can't remember the difference between Sunni and Shia.
He's had skin cancer... twice.
He just turned 72... when his father was that age, he'd been dead for 8 years.
He'll have his finger on the button, and he has a temper...and possibly alzheimers.
He can't remember how many houses he owns, yet is selling himself as a "man of the common people."
He wants to invade Iran.
Moscow isn't off the table either...
His ads seem to be of the impression that gas is $2.55 a gallon.
He critisizes Obama for his "poor choices" yet he picks a VP who has only 20 months of experience. (but a nice ass...)
He was one of the early cheerleaders of the war in Iraq, and was one of those who told the American public that it would pay for itself through oil revenues, and that we would be "greeted as liberators." That we'd be out again in under two years.
He voted against vets benefits six times.
He opposed the new GI bill... but took credit for it after it passed.
He flip-flopped repeatedly on an Iraq timeline.
He claims to be a "maverick" in DC, but has voted with Bush 90% of the time.
The rape joke.
The "bomb Iran" song.
The Keating five scandal.
Etc., etc., etc....

A joke is a joke. I won't be voting for him for various reasons, however this? This is really fucking reaching. Seriously. Pulling a semi-offensive joke out of the woodwork? That someone told 22 years ago? That just looks fucking embarassing to the people BAWWW-ing over it.

Also, I'm surprised you haven't heard worse jokes at work (and by on-site I'm thinking construction, not to imply anything of course, thats just what I think when I hear on-site, my apologies if that's incorrect). I've heard worse jokes at a church picnic when I was a kid. It certainly isn't the aristocrats.

If Obama had made the same joke,there would be a new FoxNews channel established to cover/exploit it.

There seems to be a awful lot that McCain gets away with.

This is not just about McCain,but also about the press and their double standard.

That "joke" is not funny. A LOT of women have been raped. I'm not sure of the exact percentage, but its high.

ok dude. I've been reading and I'll tell you, you're wrong. Now I don't like McCain either. I think he would be incredibly bad for this country. All this aside, you're wrong in this one point.
The Double Standard actually tends to work in Obama's favor. Obama does something and everyone is like, "Come on, it's not that bad" McCain or Hillary do the same thing, and they have just betrayed the American people.
Please get your facts straight.

Anything can be funny if properly done. There are jokes about war,death,starving,murder,being poor, being white, black, asian, being stupid, being smart, fat, skinny, pretty, ugly there are jokes about everything. Even if he did say it, I really don't care because it was a joke.

Anyway, I don't like McCain, won't be voting for him, but this crap of pulling up 22 year old one liners is just childish. In twenty two years people have gone from being crack whores sucking people off for a five to having a PHD. In twenty two years, the world went from being almost totally disconnected to being connected in a real way all the time(internet). I me that is a lifetime ago. Prisoners have went to jail for murder and been paroled, in that span of time. And it's supposed to continue to still be relevant. This is one of the reasons I don't hold McCains war record in such high regard really, as it's 30+ years ago, he's not that person anymore. I find it hard to remember the person I was 10 years ago. I doubt I'll still be the same in ten years as I am now though falling from perfection is nothing to look forward to.

Anyway, in my mind unless their is some pattern over the years of the same behaviour(Liking rape), then it's meaningless bashing.

The text of the supposed "joke" tells me that said "victim" was actually a consenting participant in a rape fantasy scene. He was simply outting himself. The fact that he threw in a little beastiality tells me that old man McCain might be an alright guy to hang out with now and then.
