If she did lie then this situation could become a major issue.  We shall see in the weeks to come.

It is a shame.but if true her and her family will be savaged...and seriously I would take no glee in that.It is the nature of national politics though.

DomKen -> RE: The Daily Kos article on Sarah Palin. (8/31/2008 11:27:26 PM)

I'm going to have to check with some MD friends but the part about leaking amniotic fluid, being in labor, flying commercial with a layover back to Anchorage  from Dallas and then driving an hour to a minor regional hospital, bypassing two better equipped facilities, to deliver a child known to have trisomy is either a very bad lie or a clumsy attempt to kill the baby without actually aborting it. Either way I think this has to be dealt with by Governor Palin.

If this is true there is of course a little matter of her violation of one of the ten commandments. Which I normally wouldn't care about, I personally have no problem with people lying to outsiders about their personal affairs, but it is hypocritical for an evangelical who believes in god to violate the ten commandments.

You do realise the commandment you're butchering is best translated to 'you shall not bear false witness' and is used to refer to perjury, right?

Right?

Actually I apparently know more than you do about the issue.

The best translation is "Do not bear false witness." Not do not lie as a witness or the like. Witness as a verb does not mean strictly in court.

Going back to the original language the word in question is 'ed (Strong's H5707) and is roughly the same connotation as the english verb witness. It certainly has nothing to do with court rooms since the Jews didn't have such at the time the Commandments were written. Since this word is actually a contraction we can go back to the root uwd (Strong's H5749) which includes in its meaning "to protest, affirm solemnly, warn, exhort or enjoin solemnly, admonish, charge." Which still doesn't make this about court testimony.

Especially since pro-choicers would have encouraged the 16 year old to get an abortion to fix it.

Either way, the left loses on this one.  If it's true, Palin is an exemplary mother who walks the pro-life walk.  If it's not true, they just look petty. The real shame is that I doubt Obama is the one who is behind the rumors, but the backlash will fall on him if they're not true.

It is ironic, that under the current laws, a choice exists (you can adopt, have the child, or have a legal abortion.)  According to McCain's and Palin's positions, there should be no choice at all.

Would have?  Would have?

They can right fuckin' now!  Where is the hue and cry to rip that little egg-sack from the womb?

Ahh.  I see.  It violates a sweeping, stereotypical set of values you find it convenient to assign her.  I see a woman who says she is committed to 'life' walking the walk.  This is the WWJD solution.

Ahh.  The hypocrisy just astounds me.

Tell me, with a straight face (if you can), that if she was on the Democratic ticket every right-wing religious organization wouldn't be decrying her "lack of morals" and questioning how someone lacking in basic parenting skills can run a country.

Not to mention the feeding frenzy the fat bastard and the other conservative talking heads would be having.  The better question is WWRD, what would Rush do?

That's Law, Ken, not Grace.  Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven.  [;)]

Yes, truly an amazing thing this being a Christian.  Allows you to condemn others but if you suffer the same failure all is forgiven.

John McCain opposes adoption?

Wait....isn't one of his own children adopted?

Yes, he does, and no she didn't.

Work it out.

The claim is that the fifth child that Palin claims as her own, is actually her grandson, son of her 16 year old daughter.  I gotta admit, it looks pretty convincing but I'd like to see it confirmed by more mainstream media.

Convincing though it is, McCain's people must have vetted her pretty closely.

Dunno what the fallout will be if it's shown to be true.

The Daily Kos is an embarasment to the Obama campaign with this kind of crass stupidity.  Pull out all stops
and lies to beat McCain....They went down a few pegs with this story.  Who cares anyway?... Daily Kos..
Daily Planet...all the same....fiction.

Maybe god does, not sure about the religious right.  Unless, of course, it's their hand caught in the cookie jar.
