As only Jon Stewart can tell it:

The video is posted on several posts yet not 1 person who supports the GOP has responded.  Guess the truth hurts

bipolarber -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/4/2008 1:18:18 PM)

Yup... he was definitely firing on all cylinders that night! LOL

Pinheads! LOL

DomKen -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/4/2008 3:14:12 PM)

Such convenient changes of heart these GOP folks have had. Anybody want to bet it lasts?

Politesub53 -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/4/2008 3:34:03 PM)

Thanks for the link. The hypocrisy of the commentators was plain for all to see.

Edited for spelling

bipolarber -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/4/2008 7:03:13 PM)

The great thing about republicans, and comedy... it's a renewable resource!

Ok, I'll respond.

So what? You expect something different?

Or are you saying that Democrats don't do exactly the same thing? Only more so?

CNBC and MSNBC puts this stuff to shame every night.

You all sound somehow surprised that confirmation bias exists in the world.

But I will address a couple of the issues (and take exception to Stewart's and the thread's posters characterizations):

1. The Palin daughter's pregnancy and the Spears pregnancies are two different issues, in two different environments, and I find the differences in comments and reactions valid.

2. The differences between how Hillary was treated, and cried "sexism", and how Palin has been treated so far are worlds apart. I didn't hear a single comment during the entire Democratic primary about how she should be a "better mother" and why she didn't she spend more time with Chelsa, or other family related things, while about all we have heard about Palin are personal attacks on her abilities and fitness to be a mother, and "how the hell can she be in politics and be a good mother at the same time?".

Good enough for ya, honey? [:D]

Firm (the conservative "sexist")

bipolarber -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/4/2008 9:22:23 PM)

LOL!
Thanks, Firm, I knew we could count on you to point out the "differences" where there are no differences.

Suck it, republicans!

We have different world views.

Mine is reality based, and nuanced.

Yours? [:D]

Are you kidding? Both are under the age of 18. Both had premarital sex that resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. How are they different issues?

housesub4you -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/5/2008 5:20:55 AM)

Well one big difference is;  1 is the child of the GOP VP pick who is 17 and with child, and the other is the child of bad parents who are not involved in thier childs life, because she is 17 and with child.

So the difference's are very clear.

kittinSol -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/5/2008 5:26:56 AM)

I LOVE this: "Karl Rove appears bitterly divided on the experience issue." rofl.

What a bunch of criptofascist hypocrites though. This clip should be broadcasted on prime time on all television channels everyday until the election [:D] .

It's simple really -- the Spears family does not have any republican politicians in it, so that makes their behavior immoral. Kinda like when Henry Hyde was leading the charge against Bill Clinton in bimbogate until it was revealed he had fathered a child outside of his marriage -- his excuse was that it was a "youthful indiscretion" because he was only about Clinton's age at the time.

I just hope McCain/Palin continues preaching family values as republicans have since they brought us that statesman named Dan Quayle -- should be entertaining with McCain's infidelities along with this.

Chelsea Clinton is about thirty years old while Palin's baby is 5 months old.  Kinda different lifestages, one might say...

meatcleaver -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/5/2008 5:38:37 AM)

In their defence, they aren't hypocritical in the same sentence.

kittinSol -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/5/2008 5:46:41 AM)

If that's all you can find, cleaver, I hope you're not a defence lawyer [:D] .

SoulPiercer -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/5/2008 6:05:12 AM)

Ahhh .. what short memories we have.

Hypocrisy is alive and well on both sides of the fence .. with each side saying things like .. "I guess the truth hurts".

Take a trip back to the past with me ..

MTV throws all their weight behind one William Jefferson Clinton. MTV attacks the conservatives stance on "family values".

But wait! Somewhere along the line, MTV forgot that it wasn't a conservative/republican housewife who started the fight for labels on Albums/cassettes/CDs .. it was in fact the wife of the democratic VP candidate, Tipper Gore!

This election should have opened the eyes of the voters, but apparently it hasn't. The very fact that some supporters of Hillary said they'd vote for McCain should have been a clear message. They won't vote for Obama, because if he wins, it's possible he could stay in office for 2 terms.

Instead, they would vote for McCain .. hoping that the country sinks further over the next 4 years so Hillary can take another shot and win the next time around. In other words, the country isn't what matters .. getting your guy or gal elected is what's really important.

But .. instead of being shocked by that bit of hypocrisy, we're trying to compare the pregnancy of some 17 year old we never knew existed until last week to the pregnancy of a 17 year old whose name is well known.

The only people who really care about either girl being under 18 and pregnant are the spin machines on either side.

Neither of these girls come to my mind when I'm paying 4 bucks a gallon for gas, when people I know are losing their jobs or when I talk to my best friend and ask how his son is doing in Afghanistan.

Precisely.

LaTigresse -> RE: A funny look at hypocrisy (9/5/2008 6:40:58 AM)

Two things come to mind with the pregnant minor thing. Their mothers look like sisters which I thought bizzaro when I first noticed the resemblance, BUT.........one we won't hear anything about after November. The other messed up family is going to glare out at us from our grocery store checkout forFUCKINGEVER!![:D]

Sometimes I support the GOP but I almost never click on video links in the forums....guess the truth really doesn't matter in this case. Nice of you to assume the worst though.
