MzMia -> Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/4/2008 8:34:52 PM)

I heard most of Lindsey Graham's speech, most of Cindy McCain's speech,
and most of John McCain's speech, tonight.

I planned to listen not because I intend to vote for John McCain, but because I wanted to hear
what was said, that might influence others to vote for them.

I thought Graham's speech contained a lot of Obama bashing.
I thought Cindy McCain's speech was actually interesting, and Cindy certainly helped to promote
and show her husband in a good light.  Cindy seems to have a real personality, and I enjoyed listening to her.

I thought John McCain's speech was "interesting".  I can see how he appeals to many people.
John appears to be promising a lot and seems confident he will indeed win.

I came away feeling, at least if John McCain is elected, he appears to be an improvement upon
our current Administration.
I still feel we will be getting a lot more of what we have now, and I would not expect any major
positive changes.
Any thoughts on the speeches tonight?

I cannot believe they allowed Lyndsey Graham to speak.   He is my senator.  Can you believe that?
I heard McCain try to speak, and turned it off.
I heard that woman try to speak, and I am so far left from what she believes.
Lyndsey Graham was the main senator that lead the impeachment of Bill Clinton.  I hate him.

I caught McCain's speech, and, thought he nailed it.  I kept glancing over, expecting the other half to have gone back to her book.  Never happened.  That's the best review she's given yet.

lol, MissSCD, you tell it like it is!
I have no intention on voting for McCain, but I had to listen!
How can you resist?

I like to know how the "Right" thinks and what they plan to do.
I just enjoy hearing "both" sides.

I liked Senator McCain's speech and thought he delivered it well.  He makes good points about service and accountability and working through the partisan divide. His platform is not aligned with my priorities and values though and I will be voting for Senator Obama.

Mz Mia, did you notice how much older and non-diverse this crowd appeared to be compared to the Democractic Convention last week?

lol, well Vendaval since you brought it up!
Did you see them dancing?
The crowd seemed almost a tad somber and subdued compared to the
DNC crowd!
Remember the woman at the DNC that had toilet stools on her hat?
She was around 78, she said she created the hat because the economy was

in the toilet. {I am still chuckling over her hat}
I think I would enjoy and prefer partying at the DNC!

I have seen livelier funerals than the RNC tonight.

Vendaval -> RE: Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/4/2008 8:54:11 PM)

Yes, the crowd did seem much more subdued.  I missed the little old lady with the toilet seat hat.  That was a stroke of genius!

DomKen -> RE: Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/4/2008 8:58:46 PM)

I sat through all of it from 7pm on. Graham was awful. He really is an embarassment.

Cindy was forgettable although I hope her outfit wasn't another 300k one. That little tidbit couldn't have helped the "regular folks" image.

Senator McCain gave a speech I would have expected from GWB back in 2004. Tired old GOP plans that no one supports, vouchers again?, and lots of be afraid, be very afraid and vote for me because I'll make you less afraid. It was beneath him.

I found a picture of the hat.

Perception is a funny thing, isn't it, Ven?  When McCain hit the ending on that speech, I heard the rumble of a big block engine instead of the revving of a souped up ricegrinder.  Now the actual race begins.

DomKen, Cindy did not pull on your heartstrings when she kept talking about how
she met Mother Theresa, and adopted the Indian orphans?

Since I have seen Mother Theresa's work first hand. no, I was not affected by Cindy claiming she helped out that particular piece of filth.

bipolarber -> RE: Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/4/2008 9:10:27 PM)

I counted three people in the crowd yawning.

On MSNBC, they got the feed from the convention floor, and I was amazed how un-enthusiastic the crowd was! There was one cut of an "um" who seemed to be staring at him, shocked... it was all too easy to think what was going on in her head: "I'm going to be paying for these assholes debt until I'm 80."

I played my RNC drinking game tonight [see the thread in polls and other stupidity], and finished two cans of beer, and only had one shot of whiskey... (although I shouldn't have, since the one and only black person in the crowd was NOT happy, or applauding.... oh well, you take what you can get.)

I noticed that at no time tonight, was George W. Bush, or anyone in the current administration even mentioned. This has NEVER happened before, in the history of the RNC, or American politics.

I also noticed the "service" signs have all disappeared... after last nights slam against "community organizers." I guess the GOP has declared a cold war against people who try to get kids off drugs, out of gangs, clean the streets, and help the elderly. After all, they have to stay on message. And that message is: "Change" (copyright, Obama '08)

What do I think?  Cindy gets a pass this time - but I'd put the other two on a plane headed to the border region of  Afghanistan / Pakistan, and then hand them over to the militants.

So yeah.....I didn't listen to their speeches....

Lindsey Graham is one of my senators too and he sucks.
And he was one of the main senators who was for "Amnesty" for illegal aliens!
Why? Because he takes money from golf courses and home builders in this state who want cheap illegal labor which cuts wages for working people!
I'm voting for Conley the Democrat who's running against him in Nov.

SilverMark -> RE: Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/5/2008 2:32:10 AM)

Thought Cindy was the best of them all....Graham and McCain were absolutely tedious to listen to except for the touching part of McCain's personal experience in Viet Nam, the rest I could have slept through. In watching his presentation and delivery, I can see real trouble for him in the debates but, I have always seen that coming .
He just isn't dynamic and although it should be the depth of what someone says American's will look at the delivery and after Clinton and Reagan McCain doesn't come across as dynamic nor presidential. It will be interesting to watch the numbers after the debates because even his detractors admit, Obama can deliver much like Clinton and Reagan could.

housesub4you -> RE: Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/5/2008 5:02:45 AM)

I thought McCain was tired and boring for the first 45 minutes.  He appeared to wake up the last minute or two.  It also looked like he could not turn left or right while talking, had to keep his eyes on the teleprompter.

Who the hell screwed up the screen in back of him?  Green is not his color and whatever that building was it looked like a huge mansion, not something he would want behind him after his "I don't know how many houses I own" screw up. They did get rid of it after awhile and the fixed the green screen too.

bipolarber -> RE: Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/5/2008 5:35:57 AM)

Yup... can anyone else say "Colbert Green Screen Challenge?"

kittinSol -> RE: Thoughts on LindseyGraham/CindyMcCain/John McCain Speeches? (9/5/2008 5:44:50 AM)

I felt sorry for McCain. He appears to be physically very weak and he was surrounded by sharks. Like I said, he seems alright on a personal level, and he doesn't deserve his own party. He stole a few Democratic lines (something about 'CHANGE' and the need to 'help our fellow Americans who aren't doing so well' - how socialistic is that? The puppet strings were showing).  President though? It's a frightening prospect, not least because of his choice of VP. Cindy McCain was alright as well, but was she on drugs? Her eyes looked weird.
