Webster's: formed or styled according to fashions, ideas, or customs of past times; out-of-date; antiquated; outmoded. Not a very complimentary term. Traditional softens it a little, I think.

I consider myself old-fashioned, as do others. Perhaps Old School is more appropriate. Basically, we were around when BDSM was underground and we tend to be more discreet than most.

It could be, in the context you were mentioning, that he likes the idea of getting to know you first... or courting you... before moving onto anything more sexual. It's kind of a nice idea, especially in an BDSM relationship, to get to know the person you're hoping will be tying you up, and possibly working you over to within an inch of calling safeword. But the actual meaning is something only they can answer definatively. Ask them.
