Webster's:  formed or styled according to fashions, ideas, or customs of past times;  out-of-date; antiquated; outmoded.

Not a   very complimentary term.  Traditional softens it a little, I think.

thanks a lot CallaFireStormB for the answer so far. context is , if someone tells you i am an old fashioned guy does it imply any rules, routines, rituals - especially in the bedsm context as well?
i am a bit lost here, cause even the old fashioned expression for me isn't clear!

I think the only person that can provide you that answer is the person uses it.  I believe that is a very individualistic word in that the person may mean traditions but not rules, or dress but not sexual activity..

as Callla said... it is a reflection of a person's idea of an early time ... but beyond that... it is lacking alot of specifics.  In the old days.. we grab our women by the hair and dragged them to the cave... now we live in houses.

I consider myself old-fashioned, as do others. Perhaps Old School is more appropriate. Basically, we were around when BDSM was underground and we tend to be more discreet than most.

Maybe old fashion refers to the old guard. A little
Marquis de Sade.

Ask him and tell us what he said.

Dolf

DomDolf -> RE: "Old fashioned" (9/9/2008 6:40:51 PM)

LOL... I meant that for the OP. The quick reply is a bad habit of mine. Oops.

I'll gladly share the Maker's though!!

I have to go to the liquor store and replenish my whiskey/scotch stocks. They are for some strange reason depleted! [;)]

Hit's the Mark does it?

bipolarber -> RE: "Old fashioned" (9/9/2008 8:22:02 PM)

It could be, in the context you were mentioning, that he likes the idea of getting to know you first... or courting you... before moving onto anything more sexual. It's kind of a nice idea, especially in an BDSM relationship, to get to know the person you're hoping will be tying you up, and possibly working you over to within an inch of calling safeword.

But the actual meaning is something only they can answer definatively.

Ask them.
