Correct, I do disagree with this.
"The government" has no money, not one penny, all the money in this country belongs to ...."The People!" So why is our govt pledging *our money* to another country?
All this "foreign aid" stuff has to end.
It's been going on since before WW2 and there's no end in sight.
If it really worked the amount we gave should be going *down* every year not up.
If individuals in the U.S. want to give their own funds to foreign countries or charities that's fine by me and that's the way it should be done, not by our govt!
Foreign countries now pay the lobbyists on K street big money to lobby *our* Congress to give them bigger money in "foreign aid."
And as we know most of that money is stollen!
The Virginia suburbs of Washington have now taken over from the NYC suburbs of Connecticut as the most wealthy in the country due to so many lobbyists living there!
There are too many people making too much money from all this "foreign aid" crap.

I would think that most in this country would have learned between the Vietnam and Iraq war that claiming property is useless in modern day defense. Our enemies are people who live crappy and desperate lives because of crappy governments that we have propped up or protected. We are in a war of winning hearts and not property and instilling fear.

I think there is a difference between handing out money stupidly that does not get any results then spending money in foreign countries in order to minimalize who will hate us and want to destroy us. Spending money in countries that are looking to have democracy and working to make their citizens have better lives so they help in the war on terrorism and tyranny then propping up governments that their people suffer.

All of us need to accept that the best guns, soldiers and equipment is just not as important as good public relations with the downtrodden people of the world who are always going to be the next generation of terrorists. No one should be dismissive of lack of hope, hunger and seeing your family suffer. It can breed a type of hatred that can sustain generations. Desperation will always win out over fear of a big bad military.

We of course do not owe the world money. But if we truly are fighting a war on terrorism ignoring the source of it is stupid. We have no African terrorist despite many countries in Africa are in horrific shape. But we have no end of terrorist coming from the Middle East. Our mighty guns will not solve that but it will take money to give ordinary people in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and on and on reason to like America and not see us a cause of misery.

I once pledged $10,000.00 for the deluxe timeshare at Heritage Village. I did it so I could see Jim and Tammy Faye write my name up on the big board.

That doesn't mean I actually sent the money

Kalyna36, ...do you work for the State Dept?
Sure, pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into Africa hasn't worked in the last 50 years so let's keep doing it right?

Really?  The first Al Qaida operations against the U.S. occurred in Somalia.  What continent is Somalia on?  Do you know about the headaches American shipping get from Somalian pirates?  Osama Bin Laden resided in Sudan for many years.  Care to take a gander on what continent Sudan is located?  Do you remember the American embassy in Kenya getting bombed?  Where is Kenya?  Egypt and Libya have been the homes of many terrorists that have been a thorn in our side.  Again, take a look at a map to see what continent those countries are found in.

Well, well, there's an article on Yahoo News today about Swaziland throwing a $28 million dollar birthday party for the King!
The video said the king's family spent a bundle on clothes "shuttled all over Europe by private jet."
And there was a shot of about 10 super luxurious cars as "presents."
I wonder how much of this party was paid for by U.S. Taxpayers or E.U. Taxpayers?
And Obama wants to give them even "more" of *our money?*
